I'm on the Jets' side on this. Kendall has a valid contract that he and his agent were satisfied with when they negotiated a while ago. I bet Kendall was happy to have a the security of a multi-year contract at the time, but now that guys who are FAs are signing for much more, he's whining for a new deal. Shut up and play.

Teams can't keep renegotiating players' contracts whenever the players feel they don't make "market rate".

Very good post. He is signed, he needs to hold his end of the deal up.

But I won't lie, I hope we can swing somethign and work out a deal. He isn't happy there, so the jets might as well get somethign for him before he hurts the team in teh locker room.

I think it's the principal more than the actual money. He feels like he stepped up and saved the Jets money last year by renegotiating w/ 3 years left and now that the Jets have cap room it's time to reciprocate. We'll see what happens but it's gotten ugly.
Any new word on the situation?

No, I think it probably won't be resolved until TC begins. Hopefully they can work it out but it's not looking good.

NYJunc, how does the backup look to Kendall? Ready to go? If Kendall hits the market, I believe Miami would be the first to step up and get a deal done. I don't believe he'll be cut prior to Training Camp. I think the Jets realize Kendall is on Miami's radar and they'd like to hold him as long as possible to make the "gelling" process go into the season for Miami....take away as much advantage to get Kendall as they can. How'd you feel about him going to Miami, junc? He'd obviously upgrade and help a line without a true "captain/leader" type....although Hadnot seems to be taking that mold.

They have been talking up Adrien Clarke sicne they acquired him but I don't know if that is to try to put pressure on pete or if they really believe that is true. We'll see.

as for him going to Miami, when we signed him he was offered more $ elsewhere but chose us b/c it was close enough to his Mass home that he could get up there on off days to be w/ his family. I don't know what's changed, maybe he sees the end and just wants as much $ as possible so being close to home doesn't matter anymore but as of now i'd be surprised if he went to Miami.

He would definitely be an upgrade but he's nowhere near an elite G. he's a good player, can still play and can help some of your young OL so he will help but he's not a longterm solution.

I'm in the wrong line of work. Wish I could hold out for more cash when I feel like I'm worth it.
:D
