I know this is a Dolphins forum but since things are so slow did anyone win big betting on the race today. Some kid I know put $100 on the horse that one and he made 5 g's, not to bad. I heard that todays winner had the 2nd largest return ever.

yeah some people who are loaded put bets of 10k+ on horses with long odds of winning, so if someone put 10k on that horse they made 500k....

damn even if one put 10k on each of the 20 horses, he still would of made 300k + the other 2 horses for 2nd, 3rd........

My girlfriend and I put $2 on Giacomo and got $100 back for it. It was great. We took 7 of the 20 horses to win: Giacomo (50-1 odds, yikes!), Closing Argument (who came in 2nd place and was 71-1 odds), Afleet Alex (who came in third but only 3-1 odds), Sun King, Noble Causeway, Andromeda, and Wilko.

My girlfriend saw that Giacomo was sired by Holy Bull and so she was all over it, because Holy Bull was the first horse she can ever remember betting on back when she was little going to pimlico with her parents. I saw that he was jockeyed by Mike E. Smith, who has been ON FIRE lately, and so I definitely concurred. We should have tossed another bet on it, but we only had $14 left on our ticket so we decided to cover 6 longshots and Afleet Alex.

NEVER TRUST STEINBRENNER EQUIPMENT! I did the longshots, where longshots never usually win the derby, because Bellamy Road was Steinbrenner's horse and I just knew he'd lose.

It is a mutual pool...it doesn't work that way..

Can you explain it to me then... Why is it that when Giacamo came in first place he won, 100$ was under is name? Was it because you have to bet 2$?

He was 50 to 1....that is why....the odds are based on a two dollar bet.

But you are betting against the other bettors...not the house....so If alot of people bet Giacamo or if One bettor put alot of money on Giacomo his odds would have been reduced considerably...thus the "mutual" pool.

Did you get it?

A favorite is a favorite because the majority of the money is bet on him....not because somebody just decides he is the fav...got it?

Yea I get that part, I always got that part..

If someone but 1k on giacamo to win they would win 50k..That's right, right?

Because I thought you said what patsdynasty say was wrong ( 10k to win 500k) and that's where I got confused..

The more money bet on an individual horse...the lower his odds would become.
