I just watched the Philbin, Lazor and Coyle press conference where individually they answered many questions. Where Joe is very guarded and typically bland, Coyle comes across as naturally very honest. If he gets a challenging question his inclination is to answer it.
When asked about his cornerbacks, Coyle referred to #21 (Grimes) and mentioned Jamar Taylor, Brice McCain, Zach Bowman, Bobby McCain and Tony Lippett. However, he made no mention of Will Davis. Because Coyle has a track record of being very candid when interviewed, I think that there is a real chance that Will Davis doesn't make the final 53 man roster.
Yes, I'm putting 2+2 together and may be totaling 17, but when Coyle mentions every other CB that he likes, including Lippett, neglecting Davis, I think that maybe it was not a mis-statement. I have rooted for Davis to succeed in the past and recognize his physical limitations. I think he's in trouble. Welcome your thoughts.

Really gotta hope Jamar Taylor can stay healthy or that'll be one hell of a flop of CB draftees

Taylor will not stay healthy and even if so, it would still be a flop of draftees.

Rosters spots. No excellent return.

Wasted picks.

Smart coaches keep better players regardless of draft position. There's no denying how players perform on the field and in practice where draft position is just a guess by scouts and film.

I like Davis but he's one of those players that I believe you could easily replace with someone who's released from another team next week. I root for him because he's a Dolphin, but if he were on any other team he would just be another back of the roster player to me. He's ok to have on your team but not big loss if he's gone either.

I noticed that too. Bowman or Davis is gone. I guess I'd go youth because I haven't seen much from Bowman, but Coyle seems to disagree.

Taylor minus the health issues I think is a solid cb , great return? Meh. But if he doesn't get over his bug it's just no Bueno.

Teams a little scary going forward at corner...especially the boundary...if its not taylor it looks ehhh down the road...brent grimes is no spring chicken

I think with the other DB's we have we can afford to use a spot on a different position. Like another LT or keeping an extra LB.

Maybe but 4.6 is really hard to hide in the nfl in our scheme

They started a pair of 4.6 WRs for years and pretended they were awesome playmakers down the field.

His measureables and numbers are very similar to Richard Sherman . . . I think Sherman ran a 4.56 at the combine and Lippett a 4.61 . . . . pro days Sherman was clocked between 4.43 and 4.51 while Lippett was clocked between 4.46 and 4.52.

Both guys were in that 6'3" 195 lb range and both guys used to play WR. Both guys drafted in the 5th round.

He's definitely worth trying to develop with his size and of course is still going to be plenty raw.

Look at their bench presses...sherman was a bull which makes him ideal for seattles scheme...lippett imo best fits press man but to do it he also needs to be a bull...nothing on his tape says sub 4.5 either long speed...

Lippett could be a corner late bloomer hes so new to it who knows...next year he may be ready...dont think youd get away with it this year...too much work in progress
