A shame. Happens. He D played a very good game and shut Car down all but two long drives. I'll take that most weeks. The O needed to do more to win the game. No points in the 2nd half was the difference.

Coyle really has nothing to be ashamed about. If the offense does it's job it's a win.

That FG was huge in terms of points and MOMO.

The inability to get off the field late in the game hurt this team. That 4th down play being one.

Or agreed, but at that point in the game you gotta take responsibility and stop them. Lets not forget they allowed them to drive down the field with no T/Os and in what-less than 1 min kick a FG.

This was the point where I said out loud "oh no here we ****ing go again"

4 and 10 from what their 40 yard line with about 4 minutes to go and he thought they were going to go for a DEEP TD at that point? Really?

Further with one play to either make or break the game is it really surprising that they went to S.Smith?

You didn't read it did you? Coyle was talking about the 30 yard wide open pass right before halftime that set up a field goal.

That field goal at half time was literally the only, albeit huge, mistake he made all game.

The defense did GREAT for us in the first half and allowed us to start 3 drives in Carolina's half of the field. Unfortunately, our offense only put up 3 field goals from those drives.

Defense played EXCELLENT except for that one play at the half, this one falls squarely on the shoulders of Philbin and Sherman. Get it together.

edit: I just remembered... of the 3 drives we started in Carolina territory, one of them we actually ended up putting... that's 6 points off 3 drives that started in Carolina's end (including the interception that started near the red zone).

Refreshing. Maybe his boss could do the same.

I dunno, I see Philbin taking blame all the time... obviously hasn't made him a better coach.

Joe is so cryptic in his answers. Brutal.

My statement was more directed at the REAL playcallers which are, as you know, Sherman and Coyle. Sherman is an arrogant guy who will never admit to making any mistakes. Coyle, on this occasion, at least manned up! I HATE prevent defense, it should be banned from all playbooks. That call changed the momentum in the game, especially with Carolina getting the ball back after halftime.

Not near the red zone, in the red zone, at the 10 to be precise. If Matthews holds on to that ball and we don't botch that play to give them the FG we win that game. Boo hoo right?
