Kevin Harlan on Miami

Dandy Don Meredith and Cosell here, just somthing about an announcer that on the air says to his partner calling the game “Shut up Howard!”
….Turn out the lights, the Party’s over!

Of the old MNF crew, Dandy Don was my favorite. Loved when he sang the famous lyrics except when the Dolphins were on the wrong end of it.

I eventually grew to appreciate Howard Cosell after a while, too. I always looked forward to his halftime highlights.

John Madden still Da King...
Not without Pat Summerall, who knew how to let a moment breathe. Pat knew that not every word had to be schtick.

ETA: "I'm calling both games!!!"

Harlan is certainly my current favorite

But the Pat Summerall and John Madden duo is my all time favorite

Love listening to Harlan and Reggie Miller call NBA too.
The MNF crew of Gifford, Meredith and Cosell were what I was raised on and the halftime highlights was the best part of the show. That’s all we had back then. Howard: "Fran Tarkenton….to THAT man, number 28, Ahmad Rashad!"

Man, the names being brought up here, some classics- Charlie Jones!
Never a fan of Madden, too much rambling and ranting, even Lite beer from Miller played that up on one of their commercials.

The, how did Dennis Miller get the job? ... if I recall: MNF ratings had begun to drop in the late 90s due to the proliferation of TV and the expansion of choice, more channels, and MNF took this hard, thinking that the problem was their broadcast, when it really wasn't. There was just more stuff to watch. MNF Football tried different things to try to get ratings up. I believe Dan Fouts, who was a solid analyst, was on MNF, and he got pushed aside so ABC could bring in Dennis Miller and form a 3 man booth with a little "comic relief" during the broadcast. It was definitely an experiment that didn't work, because Miller just didn't know enough about football and he wasn't all that funny.
Even Al Michaels commented at one point that he felt bad for Fouts, whose skills he praised, because he got shafted by ABC with the Miller experiment.

I loved him but he didn't do many of our games since he was on fox though....Dick Enberg was awesome too called many of our games and was really into it...it was awesome to hear him say Dannnn Marinoooooo 👍

Enberg was my favorite as a kid.

Yup, sounds about right.

Coming up on Sunday: "TUA DROPS BACK, PRESSURE COMING, INGOLD WITH A BLOCK, TUA LAUNCHES, IT LOOKS LIKE HILL HAS A STEP ON THE DEFENDER, HE'S GOT HILL, HILL TURNING ON THE JETS, 30 20 10 DOLPHINS TOUCHDOWN!!!!!!!"

Harlan and Gus Johnson are my two faves. They just bring an entirely different level of passion and excitement to the table than anyone else.
My two favs as well.. I’m always pimpin Gus, he makes me watch games I don’t want to watch sometimes just to listen

He was funny, I'll give you that, but how did that qualify him as a MNF host?

Jerry Seinfeld was funny too. George Carlin.... Funny AF.

Don't care to have them on my football broadcast.....lol
There's only 1 comedian I would ever want to hear on a broadcast, unfortunately he's passed away (Robin Williams).
