Kevin Kolb..... Round 2, pick #60.

If we don't get Quinn, sure I'll take him. Question is will Detroit or Minn. take him in the 2nd before us? I like him better than Stanton and Edwards.

I'd take Zabransky in the 6th and draft a QB next year.

Brohm,Brennan, next years best. This is the year of Green.
Hopefully the only one.

From what I remember of Senior Bowl week, the commentators were saying that he needed to show the NFL scouts that he could play in a pro style offense, and also show that he can get it down the field. He didn't show it from what they (Mayock, ect..) said. Why is he suddenly garnering so much interest here lately? Hopefully I missed something here. Anyone?

He's on our list, but I'm not necessarily sure he has bumped himself up into the 2nd round. I expect Stanton, Edwards, and possibly even Troy Smith and John Beck to get called before him.

He has moved up the charts because he has all the tools and a great head on his shoulders.

The knock about throwing downfield has to do with the offense Houston ran, but when I watched film of the guy he appears to have the whole package.

I would love to take him at #40 if we don't land Quinn.

On the down side he FUMBLES ALOT, having done so 28 times while in college. 28 times is an average of 7 a year if your a four year starter, I don't know if he was but if he wasn't it's an even worse average then that.

I got this info from CNN's video link. They also say he makes questionable calls, so that to me doesn't imply he has a good head on his shoulders.

Edit: Kevin kolb was a four year starter. And I thought AJ Feely fumbled alot.

From what I hear, decision making is his biggest weakness. Considering he hasn't played against a lot of top defences I'd say that's a problem.

yea id only be content with taking Quinn or Stanton. Beck is 25, Kolb is a product of a certain system id say...and im not incredibly high on Edwards either. if we dont get a QB...id wait for Brohm or Brennan next year.

Perhaps you need to dig a little deeper into the stats before you form your opinions, 22 of those 28 fumbles came in his freshman and sophmore years, he reduced his fumble count to 5 as a junior, and to only 1 as a senior.

The media caught attention to Kolb in 2006 as he put together one of the finest seasons in Houston history. The Conference USA Offensive Player of the Year, Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award finalist and Davey O'Brien National Quarterback Award semifinalist ranked fifth in the nation in passing efficiency (162.72 rating), eighth in total offense (283.07 ypg), 10th in points responsible for (14.57 ppg) and sixth in passing yardage (3,809). Kolb connected on 292 of 432 passes (67.6 percent) with 30 touchdowns and four interceptions. He rushed 111 times for 154 yards (1.4 avg.) and four scores, gaining 3,963 yards in total offense. He was sacked 33 times, but turned the ball over just once on a fumble. He also recorded two tackles (both came tackling the defender who intercepted his pass).

Now, tell me again your problems with Kevin Kolb? Oh yeah, he fumbles alot?

Once in his senior year? Thats alot to you?

Or maybe you are one of those that don't believe a young player develops in college, and grows from his freshman year to his senior year?

Besides game film, I watched several interviews with this kid, he has a good head on his shoulders.

When you take a closer look at this kid, its not hard to understand why he may have moved up the Dolphins board, he just got better and better as his college career went on.

If we don't take Quinn...I'd draft Zac Taylor from NU in the 6th or 7th and wait for next year's QB crop (try to snag Colt). Let Green lead the squad for a year or two.

Oh and everyone that keeps banging on about Brohm and Brennan, what happens if we finish outside the top ten? How do we get them then? With the position we are in this year we should definitely be trading up for Quinn IMO, it might be too costly next year.

If Quinn doesn't fall to #9, then I like Kolb in the second (he reminds me of Favre coming out of college). Stanton would be my next choice. If we wait until day 2 of the draft I like Jordan Palmer.

Perhaps he will develop but lets face it he had, or has a significant problem. One good year this past year isn't enough to consider drafting him as the third best QB in the draft.

You say he cut his fumbles down, ok but then you also saw his interception went way up LOL... I don't see a way you could ever trust the Fins to this kid.

Here are the stats on the interceptions. As I said one good year doesn't a Pro make. But then if you like him you like him, me I say no way I would look somewhere else.

Kevin Kolb
Height: 6-31/8 | Weight: 218 | 40-Time: 4.84

Official Bio

Strengths:
Arm strength is more than adequate and he has a very quick release...
Strong and has a solid build...Protects the ball and has a good career
TD / INT ratio...Durable and has a lot of experience...Solid athlete
who can run a little and hurt defenses with his feet...Has everything
you look for from an intangibles standpoint in terms of leadership,
brains and work ethic...Extremely productive throughout his career.

Weaknesses:
Does not have the ideal height that you look for...Passing numbers were
inflated by playing in a passing system...Accuracy is dodgy, especially
on deep balls...Gets too many passes batted down at the line...Worked
mostly out of the shotgun...Is going to have to learn how to run a pro
style offense and read defenses...Didn't always play against top
competition...Mechanics and throwing motion need work.

Notes:
Last name is pronounced "Cobb"...Burst onto the scene as a true
freshman and ultimately became one of the most prolific passers in NCAA
history...There is a lot to like about this guy but he is a tough
prospect to project and he'll have to fight the "System Quarterback"
label...Could surprise and end up starting for someone.

Career Statistics
Year GP Comp Att Yds Comp % TD INT
2003 13 220 360 3,131 61.1% 25 6
2004 11 198 353 2,766 56.1% 11 6
2005 12 254 420 3,258 60.5% 19 15
2006 14 292 432 3,809 67.6% 30 4
Totals 50 964 1,565 12,964 61.6% 85 31

Note that is 31 Interception in 4 years that is almost a 8 pick a year average.
Combine that with his 7 Fumble a year average. And I say he is a turnover machine ROFLMAO ...

I'd take Zabransky in the 6th and draft a QB next year.

Bad Idea for many reasons:

1. In order to even get a chance at those two, Miami will have to pick in the top 10 yet again, Miami has too much talent to end up picking in the top 10 again.

2. Miami could lose some games on purpose, but that would be idiotic, because you are planting a losing mentality on this team, and you are wasting a top 3 Defense.

3. Zabransky is going to amount to nothing, or a very bad 2nd Qb, so it would not be worth it.

4. even if we pick top 10, Brohm and Brennan might have good enough years, where they are taken as top 2 player, which would mean we would have to be the worse team this coming year, which is not going to happen.
