Kevin Minter, Middle LB, could be the run stuffer we are searching for. He will only be 26 years old. There hasn't been much discussion about him. Any chance Miami would consider him and move Alonzo to the outside?

Eh, Minter is definitely better than what we have, but he's not what I would call an "exciting" signing.

I like him. He definitely needs to be coached so he keeps improving but at a good price I like him. He has improved last year.

I don't want exciting... I'll settle for competent NFL level play. If this defense can add 4 competent defenders and a couple at guard I would call that a good off season.

Agreed. I meant that statement as a reason why nobody is mentioning him.

It seems that he would be a solid, under the radar pickup. What would he cost to land him in Miami?

Might as well have kept Kelvin Shepard if you want a player with Minter's limitations. He's more of a 3-4 thumper type. Awful fit in the wide 9.

He's been noted as wanting to stay with Zona, and if not has expressed reuniting with his former DC and now HC of the Jets, Todd Bowles.

These are exactly the guys I would much rather sign. We have to stop mako people the richest in the NFL, and fill our defense with tier 2 guys that have the potential to our perform their contract.

We have to build our franchise with the draft. That's why we've been so thin in our depth chart and why we've so underperformed as a franchise--our drafts have been sorry. I think we are on our way to fixing the issues and had a good 16 draft. Overpaying for high priced FA's is not the solution. Once we show we can win, there will be FA players who will agree to play for less because they want to win. See NE Patriots. I would love a guy like Hightower but I would prefer to develop our own young talent rather then stealing it from someone else. JMHO

With the news of Stills potentially getting 12M per year, we need to sign at least 1 FA LB. I think Brown would be a good pickup considering his value shouldnt be too crazy.
