Dolphins unhappy with receivers

Posted: Sunday April 13, 2008 08:39AM ET

Although the Dolphins added three veteran receivers, they believe they need more quality there behind Ted Ginn Jr., Ernest Wilford and erratic Derek Hagan. That is why they have invited several draft prospects to Davie -- including Houston's Donnie Avery (a potential second- or third-rounder), North Carolina State's John Dunlap and Brown's Paul Raymond -- and asked for more tape of Appalachian State's speedy Dexter Jackson.

Keyshawn contemplating comeback

Posted: Sunday April 13, 2008 08:41AM ET

Although the Dolphins want to get younger, retired receiver Keyshawn Johnson, still mulling a comeback, said by phone, ''I'm pretty sure if I wanted to come to Miami, Bill Parcells would say OK."

Good cause we don't really have any quality WR'S yet...

We don't have any quality WRs? That's not what the article said.

I never said the article said that.

I said that

The article stated that we are looking for quality behind Ginn and Wilford who both have shown potential but nothing more IMO. So, IMO, I am not one who is gonna say our WR's are set and solid based on who we have. I still don't believe we have a #1. Hopefully Ginn proves me wrong.

Ted Ginn will make playing WR easier for everyone else, just like he did at Ohio State. I know he still has some doubters but I am definately not one. I am also a die hard Ohio State fan as well and I know there are a few others here and I doubt any of them have reservations as to how great 19 will be.

I think getting keyshawn would be great. He would fill the gap for a couple of years and be a mentor to Ginn and other younger players. He will also give a solid target to whichever unexperienced QB we have starting

I'm genuinely not sure how we feel about wide receivers, but Andre Caldwell and Bennett are two guys you have to take long hard looks at in the 3rd.

They aren't huge, however, the biggest being Caldwell at a hair over 6 feet and 210 lbs

I agree.. I think we need a quicker receiver to add to the WR corps because there is no doubt that Ginn will take the majority of the attention from opposing defenses. With a quicker receiver, we can take more advantage of the space that will be freed up by Ginn. If they don't draft one, I wouldn't be surprised to see Booker move outside once in a while.

Also, I can't see Keyshawn coming to Miami now that we have Wilford. They are the same type of WR and Hagan is quite similar as well so it wouldn't make sense.

I totally agree. If the fans were happy with how he played last year, just wait until we get an O-Line that is solid enough for our QB to take a 5 step drop and look for Ginn. We are improvements on the O-Line but one or two more quality guys are needed and then our QB can make plays. Not only will Ginn do so nice things for himself, but he will also open things up for Wilford and others.

Exactly. Which is why I say getting Jake Long is the way to go.

Solidifying our O-line will help this team alot more then getting a guy who produces sacks. As we have seen, a sack guy really doesn't help the offense. But we all know a good offense definitely helps out a tired defense.

It will be nice to be able to see whoever our QB is have time to throw

i agree we need to give the QB time to throw to be able to do anything. i remember when we were in shotgun, and the de would be near the qb by the time he got the ball. neither the qb or the wr or te will look even decent when thats the case.

Thomas won't make it out of the first rd. He could be the first WR taken. We may need a guy to replace Hagan because if he does not perform he is out!

I also agree with you on your take about which Long we should pick. However in watching more and more tape of Jake I can see why some would be concerned about his footwork. It's gonna be difficult for him to develop great footwork because he is huge. If we take him we just have to hope that his size and strength offset the footwork issue.
