Dolphins | Whisenhunt favorite to land head coaching job?
Sun, 7 Jan 2007 08:37:16 -0800

Alex Marvez, of the Sun-Sentinel, reports Pittsburgh Steelers offensive coordinator Ken Whisenhunt has emerged as the early front-runner in the team's search for a new head coach. Whisenhunt was scheduled to interview with the team Saturday, Jan. 6.

Ironically Mortensen just reported that the Falcons are going to announce him as the coach so I'm not sure what's true, as soon as Monday which makes no sense as Mortensen reported that the Steelers were set to interview him on Tuesday.

To much speculation.

I heard Mort also. Isn't Whisenhunt A Georgia native? If so he might want to coach at Atlanta.

He said in an interview he wanted to go to Arizona, but it would make sense for Huizenga to be flying up there to meet him on Saturday and putting off Cameron's interview until today if Atlanta was expected to hire Whise by Monday.

It is confusing though

Why would he leave Pittsburgh??? He would be a fool to leave that job, when he's very comfortable their, I'm sure the HC job is his, if he wants it and why wouldn't he?? I don't see him coaching the Dolphins. We'll end up being disappointed in who we land because their are a couple of other better jobs out their then ours. I hope Cameron ends up in Arizona, I don't want him here. I think he's successful because he has the best backfield in the game. We need a HC that understands the importance of division wins, winning home games and the ability to spot talent. If we get that we can be a playoff team next year.

First of all how could he be the front runner if they havent even interviewed him???

I don't think i'm all for hiring Wisenhunt....From my understanding, all OC's whom have worked under Cowher, have went on to fail as NFL Head coaches...

Grimm is already Asst Head Coach and most likely to get promoted to Head coach in Pitt I believe. Also I think Norm Chow is the favorite for the Arizona job even though Whise wanted to coach there.

the whiz? and ew MM ima yack

can somsone tell me hte high interest in whisenhunt? give me info about him and i just hope either way MM is gone! if he is aroudn antoher year we are goin to lose again.

but whats up with the whiz. give me finfo plz.

That's good news, i'd like to see him play 2-3 more seasons.

He has 106.5 career sacks i believe. 14.5 more would give him 121 tying him with Clyde Simmons for 13th all-time. I think we can agree that 14.5 is an achievable goal for JT in a season? If he hits 121, then he's only 16 away from tying John Randle at 137 for 5th all-time.

If he plays 3 more seasons in Miami i think he can get the 30.5 sacks he needs to catch Randle. Then wouldn't that definetly make him a hall of fame caliber player?

Wrong thread?
