I was scratching my head when Saban decided to kick that field goal. Man what a depressing day this turned out to be. Why didn't we go for it?

Because that would've taken guts. And we don't have that right now.

And what happens if we fail on the 4th down conversion (ask the Jets)? Kicking the FG kept us in the game.

Sorry, but I completely disagree here. The worst thing that would have happened is we would have lost the game (anyway). If we do get the TD then we don't need a miracle type play to win. We just need to get the ball back(and score) As it was, kicking the field goal in turn required a 2 pt conversion just to tie. I can't say that it cost us the game, but IMO it did little to help our situation.

I thought we should have went for it too. I was a little surprised.

I don't think it cost us the game. Our inept, inebriated offense for the first 3 quarters cost us the game.

However, I would have gone for it. I never like kicking a FG to "pull" within 8points, especially when you have not scored a TD all game. This is something that has changed, due to the 2pt conversion rule, that I don't like. Maybe, if we are 4th and goal from the 20 kick the FG, but we were at the 4, I think.

We fail on the 4th down conversion and the game is already over with. We kick the 3 points and we're still in the game.

We were down two scores. With the time remaining we had a shot at only one more possession, if we come away empty on the fourth down we have no shot at winning. Kicking the feild goal is the right move.

The field goal got us what exactly? Welker on a slant route could have been called all day.

I have to admit I was more than disappointed they didn't go for it on 4th down. Worse case scenario and you don't make it, you still have them pinned inside the 10 with an opportunity to get the ball back again, probably in texans territory.

It kept us in the game. How is that hard to understand? Had Saban went for it and we failed, you guys would be complaining about us not kicking the FG (as the Jets fans are doing right now).

I would have loved to go for it but the smart football move is to take the points. Saban made the right call.

i was thinking we had a better shot at gettin a td there then getting a two point conversion later on..
