Given the Dolphins win the toss and get 2 choose.....

Do you think Sparano does his usual defer to the 2nd half and puts out the better Miami Defense first?

Or do you think/would you rather see him show some cajones and tell the captains to say they want the ball first maybe to try and show some confidence in Chad by sending the Offense out first on Monday Night Football?

I would actually defer this game . . . the crowd is gonna be pumped for the first game, put that defense out there and put the pressure on Brady and that NE Offensive line early. The D is the strength of the team, lets see what they got.

always defer, I like the ball first out of half time

Knowing that you will get the ball back after half is a nice advantage to have. Definately lets you manipulate how the end of the half goes. Is this whole defer thing fairly new. Because if you don't defer that means you pick for the first half and the opposing team gets choice in 2nd half right? I thought it used to be the team who wins the toss gets to decide what they want to do first and in the second half that decision is flip flopped. I know in Madden defer is not an option, just the scenerio I mentioned last is implemented.

Yup...gotta agree with everyone here so far. Defer and try to get Brady out of his rhythm as soon as possible. Wake and the rest of the front 7 need to set the tone defensively. Let New England know right away that this ain't going to be a walk-over for their offense.

What seems to be an issue with the dolphins is when we defer, we get the ball on the second half and don't do squat on that drive. We seem to be able to score a lot more and easier on the actual first drive of the game, than the first of the second half. I don't know the statistics of those circumstances, but thats how it feels.

I always like the option of deferring because you get the ball in the second half. Limiting one of their possessions and getting the ball first even with the lead at half, or another possession to help your comeback attempt. I wouldn't be surprised to see us take the ball. I would like that call too, just gotta make it happen.

I would defer, considering that even if the Pats score the crowd would still be pumped early.

Defer??? always put the pressure on your opponent not the other way around.

Thinking about it a little more . . . Miami has the advantage of breaking in a new offense . . . maybe it's better we go first and catch the Patsies off guard a bit instead of letting them get a taste of the offense for a half and then getting the ball first.

Just a thought.

You always defer, especially if you have a good defense. To defer helps you whether you are leading at halftime, or trailing.

If Miami is leading:
Miami gets the ball in the 2nd half w/ the lead and the possibilty of scoring again and making it even tougher for the opponant.

If Miami is trailing:
You want to have the ball starting the 2nd half to make sure your opponants are not able to extend their lead, and the possibility of scoring and getting closer, maybe tie, or possibly even take the lead.

We'll Receive ... we need to DO or DIE to play our game & set the tone .... if we start out in a hole & let them start clicking, tough for us to dig out.

That's because opposing defenses always adjusted at halftime to dan henning's offensive gameplan.. which was easy to adjust to after watching that for a half.
