Hello guys and gals, again just trying to pass the time away. Knowing that we have not reached the Post season since 2001, I did a little research on those that did, and compared some stats.

These are some regular season stats on the AFC teams in the Post Season for the last 2 years (2002-2003). These stats represent Offensive First Down (FD) production and well as FD production allowed by the Defense.

I will compare them to our team’s Offensive and Defensive units, as well, and will hopefully share an insight as to whether our team belonged in the Post Seasons, by its production or abstain from the Post Season due to its lack of production.

In 2002, Indianapolis, Jets, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Tennessee and Oakland were the AFC representatives…

Stats will show “Offensive- Points Scored, Total FD, FD % that were passes, Ranking (NFL) in Passes Attempted, Ranking (NFL) in % of Total passes completed, Total 3rd Down conversion for FD;â€Â
“Defensive- FD allowed, and Total 3rd Down conversion allowed for FD.â€Â

This 9-7 season was the toughest of them for me to accept, of the last 4 years. We had RW running for 1800+ yards and had 12 games of scoring 21+ ppg. We went 9-3 when we scored 21+ ppg, and that was it, except for 1 game, the other games we would have had to score over 21 ppg to win….

In 2003, Tennessee, Baltimore, Denver, Indianapolis, New England, and Kansas City were the AFC representatives.

Well this past season, looking at the numbers, the only team that we had a good chance to beat would have been Baltimore. Everyone else had too much offensive firepower and better execution than us…

Hopefully some will see different issues in the paterns above, let's us hear about them.

Till next time…
