Kiper Suggest Dolphins trade Back Up

They had 4 from the '74 draft and I think they were the most;

I don't believe 6 HOF players in one draft ever happened
In the 80s. Marino's class had 7. There were a couple 6. The average was 4. In the 90s the average dropped to 2 per class.

I stand corrected, in 1983 & 1981 there were 7. What an amazing group of players!

There were not 6 HOF players taken in any single year I looked. While these numbers are fluid and could increase the point I was making is more than valid. It is highly unlikely that this draft year is going to produce 6 Elite level players. 7 has only happened twice in 30 years.

1980 - 3
1981 - 7
1982 - 2
1983 - 7
1984 - 0
1985 - 1
1986 - 0
1987 - 1
1988 - 5
1989 - 4

Average in the 80's was 3.1 Elite players per draft

1990 - 3
1991 - 2
1992 - 0
1993 - 5
1994 - 4
1995 - 4
1996 - 4
1997 - 4
1998 - 4
1999 - 2

Average in the 90's was 3.2 Elite players per draft

2000 - 1
2001 - 1
2002 - 0
2003 - 1
2004 - 0
2005 - 0
2006 - 0
2007 - 1
2008 - 0
2009 - 0

Average in the 20's was 0.5 Elite players per draft

(EDIT made an error for 2008, it's been corrected)

Not sure where you got your numbers. Here are the actual names of every HOF per draft year.

Edit: nobody drafted in the 2000s is in the HOF. They would be to young

Well thats not accurate Scotty

Brian Urlacher was drafted in 2000 and is in the HOF

Calvin Johnson was drafted in 2007 and is in the HOF

The entire list of every drafted players can be found here along with HOF status in italics to the right of their name

There are other issues with your link as well.

For example Charles Haley was drafted in the 4th round of the 1986 draft and your source has him drafted in 1985.

My link is the actual HOF website. If you think it's wrong it's not me is the actual HOF you are calling wrong. My note after 2000 was more general as the don't have it listed due to only a few. All you had to do was go back 2 more years to 81. LTs class had 6. Again I'm using the HOF sight.

Scotty, they have Charles Haley being drafted in 1985. Thats wrong!! He was drafted in 1986 so yes I am calling the data on that site wrong....

You also said no player drafted in the 2000's could be in the HOF, that is also wrong

Ok. The NFL Hall of Fame (the actual offical website) is wrong.

I personally feel the hall of fame has become a joke. When Julian Edelman is honestly being debated as to a Hall of Fame, i think the Hall of Fame us no longer as great a feat as it once was

Yeah the actual official Hall of Fame website is WRONG, they should get some quality control over there.

They got Charles Haley draft date wrong;
1985
Bruce Smith,
DE, Virginia Tech - 1st round (1st overall) by Buffalo Bills
Chris Doleman, DE/LB, Pittsburgh - 1st round (4th overall) by Minnesota Vikings
Jerry Rice, WR, Mississippi Valley State - 1st Round (16th overall) by San Francisco 49ers
Andre Reed, WR, Kutztown - 4th round (86th overall) by Buffalo Bills
Charles Haley, DE/LB, James Madison - 4th round (96th player overall) by San Francisco 49ers
Kevin Greene, LB/DE, Auburn - 5th Round (113th overall) by Los Angeles Rams

They got the 1981 draft class wrong too;
1981
Lawrence Taylor
, LB, North Carolina - 1st Round (2nd overall) by New York Giants
Ronnie Lott, DB, USC - 1st Round (8th overall) by San Francisco 49ers
Mike Singletary, LB, Baylor - 2nd Round (38th overall) by Chicago Bears
Howie Long, DE, Villanova - 2nd Round (48th overall) by Oakland Raiders
Rickey Jackson, LB, Pittsburgh - 2nd Round (51st overall) by New Orleans Saints
Russ Grimm, G, Pittsburgh - 3rd Round (69th overall) by Washington Redskins
They are missing Kenny Easley who was drafted in 1981 and is in the HOF.
