Trent Green has reached a conditional contract with the Dolphins, but the Chiefs and Miami can't agree on the conditions of the trade. Right now, the Dolphins are not meeting the conditions for a trade that the Chiefs want and it is possible that Green could still wind up in a Chiefs uniform this fall. But don't be surprised if the Chiefs eventually agree to a deal that has a number of conditions staggered over the 2007 season based on production. If Green reaches a number of landmarks during the 2007 season, the compensation would rise. Heck, if Green starts all 16 games, the team has a winning record, he throws for 3,000 yards and makes the Pro Bowl, the Dolphins should be happy to surrender a first-day pick, let alone the fifth- or sixth-round pick that is being reported. The Chiefs get criticized for not being proactive but the truth is the Dolphins are the party that has to raise the conditions of the trade. Chiefs general manager Carl Peterson only has to sit by and wait at this point.

Just because peterson's demands are crazy does not mean we have to budge... I expect an article like this from a former JET...

Its called PLAYING YOUR CARD RIGHT
we don't NEED trent as bad as they NEED to let go of Trent

Overall I like Kirwin, but only when he isnt reporting on Miami as his stories about Miami are always biased

I agree, i think miami should go ahead and give them a fourth rounder. There is not a fourth rounder that we draft next year that could help this team has much as Greene could. What will happen, we will sit around and lose this guy and end up with a good team that has no QB to lead us to the playoffs.Get off ur butt Mueller and get this deal done.

The Dol Fans are fine with KC keeping Trent Green. If we need another QB pick up Jake Plummer!

We're the ones in control of this situation. Trent Green has already began to bash the organization and likely will never play another game in Kansas City. Obviously, Dolphins management knows this, so why would we give up anything higher than a sixth for someone who is bound to get released before the season begins. The problem is not us being stubborn, it Peterson's awful bluff.

Agreed, I also think that its possible that the Fins front office isn't necessarily as interested in Green as the media obviously assumes they are.

Just give up a damn 5th or wait till he is released. Carl and Randy have to meet in the middle. The middle is a 5th, enough is enough with these games - Arent we all sick of hearing about this ****

If they don't want to deal on our terms, they can just fork out that 7.2 million. If they keep Green they their team could be split on starting QB.

Even Trent Green himself says that KC made it obvious to everyone that they intend to cut him eventually (no team with a sane GM keeps a $7 million 3rd string QB, which is what indications are he will be in KC).

The Chiefs won't keep him (unless they decide to give him the starting job again) so his is pure ego by King Carl. Obviously the front offices of Miami and KC dislike each other, thus Green's agent is trying to play intermediary. It's like grade school kids who are mad at each other. At the end of the day, though, Trent, Mueller, and most media and fans all agree that Trent Green will be released so why overpay now???

Let me ask people this: if you wanted to buy a lawnmower and it cost $400 but everyone at the store was telling you it would be on sale in a few days for next-to-nothing, would you still buy it today for $400?? Only if you were desperate to have it today. I don't think Miami needs to have Green today. We can wait.

He already knows 80% of the playbook because i he has run the same offense in KC for years as what we will be using here. It won't take him long to get up to speed here once he shows up.

So, like smart poker players, we are calling King Carls tantrum-like bluff.
