Germany coach Juergen Klinsmann said on Monday he was not interested in any other job, dousing speculation he might be the next United States coach.

“That doesn’t interest me at all,†Klinsmann said when asked at a news conference about his interest in coaching the U.S. team, who were eliminated at the group stage.

“At the moment, I’m only interested in my job and that has to continue to the final,†said Klinsmann, who has yet to say what his future plans are. His two-year contract with Germany expires after the World Cup.

Hey, Bamaphin 22, thanks for posting that link (actually, you're pretty good digging up stuff like this). Anyway, I wouldn't put much stock in this. Many coaches will say they're not interested in any OTHER job than the one they currently have!

I still say Klinsmann for US coach (would be best)! If not, then Hiddink. Either way, we need to act fast.

I doubt that Klinsi will go in case they make it to the finals.

He has just revamped german soccer and has tradition turned upside down. He took a lot of crap over the last couple years because he took that "US exhibition game I don't give a dam" attitude over there. Now they see what he has done. I have never seen such offensive minded german soccer team as long as I can think. He has a lot more to do in germany. At this point the are ready to elect him as Chancellor in germany.

Yeah, which is why I hope Germany doesn't get that far. After today, Hiddink is available, so hopefully we don't have to wait too long before also courting Klinsmann. Thing is, if Germany doesn't get to the final, the criticisms will come out like the flies!! Just like they did right before the Cup.

So, while I will root for Germany, I hope at the latest they are out by the semis (maybe that's too late too?). Well, Argentina is as good an opponent as any to knock them out (for the sake of the US  )

Hiddink is already commited to the Russian national team

A win in the quarters and the chances are slim to none for the US to get Klinsi...unless......

One of the problems some german officials have is that Klinsi lives in the US. Eventhough he was hired under those circumstances some people started complaining. If they'd force him to live in Germany he'd be gone even with a world cup title.

I talked to friends and family over there quite often leading up to the Cup. They all moaned and complained. I told that Klinsi brought the US attitude about exhibition games with him. He was trying new things, to see who fits best. They went bananas when Germany lost in a useless game against Italy (1-4). I told them "just wait till the cup". Expectations were low. The goal was the quarters. It surprised all of germany how refreshing this team plays.

Big weight also carries Bayern Munich (oh do I hate that team..as bad as I hate the jets ). Team officials like Hoeness, Rumenigge and even beckenbauer continuously ragged on Klinsi because of the goalie situation. The man got guts, he decided against Kahn. Now, suddenly, they all hang onto Klinsi's tail. Beckenbauer was quoted the other day that this was the best german soccer he has seen in decades.

It will all depend on the stiffness and stubborness of germans. I tried to insert some freshness last year and was trying to do some business back in my old country. But boy, they don't even know its dinner time when it is served in front of them. I totally pulled back. And the other day in one of Berlin's Newspapers they wrote in big headlines "German business people can learn from Klinsmann's approach"...and all I did was:

So your chance really lies with the stubborness and stiffness of the old fashion germans.

Yeah, I guess you read German? Well, if so, you're totally right (actually you really understated it) about how the Germans complained about Klinsmann leading up to the Cup. Man, I remember the attacks after their 4-1 defeat to Italy (in the press) and other lackluster performances (Bild was especially notorious, though I really liked their headline Grinsi Klinsi  ). So, I'll hope for the best.

Anyone but Bruce Arena would be good. :rolleyes2

why not Carlos Queiroz? I don't know how good he is but who better to make plan 2010 come true then one of the guys that came up with it. I know he didn't do to well with real madrid but he did discover Luís Figo and Rui Costa. Atleast this was what my coach was teling me because he knows one of the guys that helped Carlos come up with plan 2010.
