A few months ago I was talking about Sam Peter on this board and we were saying that if he ran through Taurus Sykes in Reno in August then he would become a player in the heavyweight div. Well he did, and tonight he will really have his first true test against Vladimr Kitschko.

Peter is young, big and undefeated at 24-0. He's been taking his opponents out young Tyson style and has alot of fans excited about him. He's earned the nickname "The Nigerian Nightmare". But this is also a HUGE fight in the career of Vlad. Vlad has had some good wins (Byrd, Barrett, McCline) but some very very bad losses (Sanders and Brewster). But alot of people still think Vlad has what it takes. He's 44-3 and if he wants to be taken seriously anymore, he has got to have a strong showing.

This is the most anticipated heavyweight non-title fight in a while namely because of whats at stake for both of these fighters, but also because no one is expecting it to last too long. Should be interesting.

Vlad has a suspect chin, Sam is a big puncher, look for big wide hooks. But I think Vlad will catch him with a straight and knock him out!!!! Vlad is THE straight puncher. Its all speculation of course and I'm wrong alot so........ Should be fun. Enjoy!!

Wow the Cotto fight was incredible. Hope the big boys are as entertaining.

Klitschko's chin showed up again...but he was able to get off the mat. He was technically brilliant in my opinion. Landing his jab and straight right hand, staying out of range and tieing up Peter when he found himself in range. His defense was really good most of the night. He kept his hands up and blocked a lot of Peter's power shots. Emanual Stewart (sp?) has really helped him. Someone in the broadcast said it right, you can't train a chin but you can train a boxer to stop getting hit.

Peter will learn from this fight. He has to put together more combonations and not always look to knock someone out.

Klitschko has done this before though, looked really good and then gotten blown up.

Saturday night was my first time seeing Peter fight, and I was pretty excited after all of the good things I'd heard. I was NOT impressed. He looked like he's never been in a ring before. I realize he's a power puncher, but somebody should tell him about the jab or straight right hand. They may come in handy in future fights.

That being said, I can't get too excited about Klitschko's performance. If somebody can go in and compete by throwing 10 fall down roundhouses a round, he's going to get laid out against anybody with any skill.

Finally, I noticed your sleeping on Lamon Brewster...Lamon smoked Wladimir before and I have no doubt that he'd do it again. Hopefully, after Vitali gets done with Rahman we can see a Brewster/Vitali matchup.

Smoked Vlad!? I'm gonna take it you didn't see that fight. Brewster was getting his *** beat and Vlad ran out of gas, plain and simple. Outlasted Vlad, definitely not "smoked". Brewster won a SD against Meehan. Did you see what Rock did to Meehan? Don't tell me that Golota win impressed you that much...its Adrew Golota, dude. Vitali would take Brewster behind the woodshed. And Peter needs to fight someone that he can actually reach. Vlad was a bad match up for him and he still put him down 3 times. Peter is young and has a bright future still, I believe.

Peter didn't look good against Vlad on Saturday except for the knockdowns. After he would rush Vlad he would take 2 or 3 rounds off. His power will make him marketable but unless he seriously improves his stamina is Tyson with less of a punch. He showed determination and that he can hang but if he wants to fight Rahman and the big boys he's going to seriously have to improve his conditioning. The Klitchko's both have glass jaws. One of the shots that stunned Vlad on Saturday wasn't even that bad. If Peter hit him completely flush Vlad would have been down for the count. I am not impressed by neither of the Klitchko's and I hope Rahman serves Vitali!

Anyways I was really impressed by Cotto. Dude is tough as nails. I thought he was done 2 times in the fight but he showed the true heart of a champion and deserves a big fight. When will fighters learn that it is never good to fight a substitute (especially if your a big fighter). The risk is to high and even if you win you win nothing. This will teach Cotto to do something stupid like that again. If he's going to fight someone he needs to be totally focused on that fighter. The risk is in this fight is to high and the reward is nothing. Next time Cotto will scrap the fight and find another fight, you can bet that!
