Yes, it's very early, but never too early to pontificate on our Miami Dolphins' 2008 starters!

I think one of the most interesting things about this offseason has been the formation of what looks to be one of the best Special Teams units in the entire league!

Granted, no jobs have been handed out yet, but there is a large pool of talent that Sparano & Company have acquired rather quickly and methodically right from the outset of offseason.

I was trying to figure out who would be the most likely candidate to win the kick return duties or maybe if we had specialists for punt returns and kick returns.

Is that what the staff has in mind for Devone Bess or Jayson Foster?

I would love to see a speedster running behind the blocking of Keith Davis. Davis is a HEAVY hitter.

I haven't heard anything on the return skills of Tab Perry or Camarillo or any of our CB's.

Who do you guys think will get the job?

#1 reciever or not, to take ginn off kick return duties (at least one/kickoffs or punts) takes touchdowns off the board. Especially with the whole ST unit better next year. If Ginn returns kicks we have a good chance to score every time. I think he would be 1st or second in the league (behind hester).

now if someone in camp can prove they can do it better, thats a different story.

Ginn, Ginn, Ginn, maybe put foster or bess back there as the other returner on kickoffs but thats it.

I do see some weakness from ginn on kickoff returns, hes much better with the punt return IMO.

He really needs to work on his body to become more explosive, he had to of been the slowest fast guy i have ever seen last year, always gettin triped up from behind, not having the explosion to escape

I honestly think it will be Ginn for PR and TBA for KR (Perry, Foster or a FA pickup).

I just do NOT see giving KR/PR duties to someone other than Ginn. The guy is already one of the best out there. On a crappy STs unit he brought three back to the house and had two taken back on stupid penalties.

We just brought in a ton of special teams help for this team. From Charlie Anderson to Nate Jones, Keith Davis, Junior Glymph, Donald Thomas (yes, Donald Thomas), Sean Ryan and all those other guys we signed for special teams value.

What I don't understand is, with all of that help on the way for STs, why put a mediocre return man in there and just have the unit be kind of 'good' rather than have Ginn make the unit 'special'? I say go for it, this is a bad team that needs to get better in a hurry and if you can make one of the units special, go for it. It will help the other units.

Well I see us having 2 KR people with Ginn being one and rookies fighting it out to be the other KR guy. The UFA former QB turned WR is definitely in that mix.

As for PR, I see there being an open competition, but the primary PR guy should end up being Ginn also. But, if he's taking too many shots or if he's gettting tired we definitely are going to cultivate a backup PR guy as well.

On a side note, this is my opinion why Booker was let go. He doesn't have the reliable hands to be a PR guy and/or KR guy, so his role of speed player doesn't fill the required duties fully. Furthermore, unlike Meggett, Booker doesn't really have the strength to run between the tackles. By that I mean he wouldn't hold up well from the pounding. So, Parmele, Forster (however you spell his name), Billingsly, etc., will all have shots at the special teams duties, and Parmele will be our 3rd down back if he shows he can catch the ball.

I'm sorry I can't remember where I heard it from, but I thought I heard Parcells wanted someone capable of assuming the KR duties because he wanted Ginn to focus on being our #1 receiver and to minimize the chance of injury to Ginn.

Ginn does make the most sense because of his talent, but I sensed they were trying to find a Randel el-type (or, forgive the analogy, a Marcus Vick type) player that was a specialist for that position when they signed Bess and the bunch.

Maybe I'm just reading too much into it. I can't wait to see what the Fins do in pretty much all of the positions this year!
