Not opposed to taking him, kids a stud, but I think we could trade back into the mid-20's and grab him if he's the target. Provided we have a trade partner.

ideally you get to say #25 and still get him...but if they take it at #19 it won't bother me at all...like the player...like the move fit...

Fine by me too. I don't buy into the hogwash that you don't take a guard at 19. At least as long as the guard you are getting is elite or close to elite. Take away the off field stuff and drafting Pouncey as early as we did was absolutely the right move. Plenty of landmines at higher valued positions were taken behind him.

I would be happy with Martin or Lewan(though his off field stuff worries me a bit he would be a steal at 19 and a MONSTER RT who could eventually switch to LF when Albert leaves)) at 19 and while I like Su'a-Filo quite a bit I would agree with the guys here that I would prefer to trade down 5-7 spots and take him.

But if they took him at 19 I would be OK with it, he looks to be a very "safe" pick and a good system fit.

Martin and Su'a-Filo look to be a "safer" pick in terms of character but Lewan probably has the most talent.

IF The Fins come away with any of those three I would be cool with it.

I'd feel the same way I did about the Pouncey selection. Good player/prospect. Not thrilled with spending a high draft pick on a Center or Guard. Actually, I'd like it a little less than the Pouncey pick, because I don't think the talent was at strong at 15 of the 2011 draft as it will be at 19 of this draft. That was a great draft, but most of the stars were off the board by 15 (Miller, Dareus, Green, Peterson, Jones, Smith, Smith, Watt, Fairley, Quinn were the non-QB picks before Pouncey).

Would be fine with it

That's ok by me. Lock down the line. No excuses for this offense if you solidify the line

I hate that pick, and not because he's a bad player. Su a Filo is the type of player that can go anywhere from 19 to 40, but there are a lot of players in that area Miami could use too. If he's the best answer at 19 I think you trade back, add picks, and just get the next guy because SF just doesn't stand out as a mid first round pick to me. Let's say you move back to 25, add a 3rd rd pick. Heck you might still get Su a Filo there and have another pick to use.

Everyone always thinks it's so easy to trade back. This year especially nearly every team in the draft wants to trade and get more picks

Actually, I think at 19, you have a solid chance at finding a trade partner. In my mind, there's a top 18 and the drop off occurs at 19. Good chance a guy falls further than he should. A team like SF would be wiling to make a move for a guy at that spot (assuming it's the right guy) - given their history and allotment of draft picks.

If it's me, and a stud player falls into my lap at 19, I'm drafting him. We have plenty of OK players on our roster - not so many star players (as in, almost none).

I'm not sure about tradedown possibilities - I don't think the real quality in the draft reaches down that far. I'm not convinced we'd have suitors. If we could trade down Su'a Filo would be very high on my list.

I would consider trading up.

Much easier late in round 1. You'll see more teams wanting to secure a player that fell, and you'll see some teams (Pats) want to trade down because the top guy on the board is gone.

Trading up early is tough because it costs an arm and a leg unless you are dealing with Reggie McKenzie (the main reason I will not be upset about the trade if Jordan doesn't pan out, we didn't give up jack)

As for Su'a Filo, I'd be okay with him. Elite guard prospect, and we just got rid of our Samoan so we need to replace him.

Love it. I've been telling my buddy who is also a phins fan that if Moseley, or Ebron are not there at 19 i'd like to see us trade down and take Xavier. He wiil be an instant starter and will be the best G we've had on this roster in a long time.

Note: i am a UCLA fan
