And Williams' loss -- all indications are that the Dolphins will not welcome back the former NFL rushing champion when, or if, he is reinstated by the league -- appears to be Booker's gain.

"I'd be lying if I said that I didn't anticipate getting more carries because of that," Booker said Friday. "But at the same time, I was looking forward to learning from him also. Regardless of what the guy does on his own time, he's a great football player and no one can take that from him. ... But, obviously, I'm excited about the opportunity to get more touches early."

Brown is excited by that possibility, too.

He wasted no time in beginning to forge a relationship with Booker, teaching him some of the lessons he's learned since he was drafted No. 2 overall by the Dolphins in 2005 -- and predicted Friday that the rookie will make an impact for Miami right away this season.

"He's doing a great job," Brown said. "He came in and has been catching the ball real well, is learning a lot on the move. It'd be a lot for a lot of people, but he's taking everything in, isn't making a lot of mental mistakes and is getting better on a daily basis."

I just don't think that Booker will be used in the same way as RW would be if he were to return. Williams may actually take carries away from Brown (6-8 per game), whereas Booker was still going to be getting some carries/passes thrown his way even if RW and RB were both on the active roster...Booker had a hard time as an every down guy at FSU and will continue the same in the pros, more than likely...But with his speed and pass catching ability, he'll be a great change-of-pace back and 3rd down guy....

I agree. RW is a bruiser. He was in there to take the load of RB. LB would be like Cam said...a change of pace back. LB will be, IMO, like M. Faulk or Warrick Dunn except less carries...a lot less. I think L. Booker will be used all over the place IMO. I mean with his speed and agility why not.....but who knows. At least he is signed and taking it all in and that goes a long way.

Waz up O-town! Even though he is from FSU I am rooting for him now. I agree with Larry, he is going to be a mover and a shaker as the 3rd down guy.

Wazzup YO!!!!

I agree 100%. But I can tell ya this. If he is in there and making things happen...dont think you wont see more of him. Nothing wrong with a 2 headed monster in the backfield.

Hmmmm.....I hate to do it......but I wanna.....I smell it.....

PLAYOFFS!!!!!

Yes....I know....but call me optimistic......:goof:

and he will be used a lot more like westbrook i think/bush. SLot WR, screens, and 3rd down back

It is either 3 or 4 that we have signed....I dunno.

I tend to think you may be right on that comparison. If he is indeed catching the ball well...I would line him up in the slot at times. With him running that 4.28, WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.....I wouldn't want to cover him in the slot or out of the backfield....

Can you imagine if both RB and him lined up in the back field. One with all that speed and then one that would just hurt ya. It would be like the upgraded NY Giants version of Thunder and Lightening...lol. Do they hand it off to RB to play smash mouth or burn ya around the end with LB...defenses better stay awake.....very awake.

Well, Booker was vastly underused in Florida States pathetic offense.. Lets not forget this guy was THE prospect coming out of high school.. He has the physical tools and the talent, but he just wasn't used at Florida State like he should have been..

I have no doubts at all about Lorenzo Booker, I think he is going to be a very good player for us..

I hear ya. Me being a huge Gator fan, I would dread knowing he would get the ball. I knew he would end up doing something to break a game wide open. Fortunately for the Gators...we were able to handle what the FSU offense threw at us. Good thing the QB was the prob...lol. He alaways worried me as far as someone that would kill our "D". I do have high hopes for him. I am sure he will be used correctly in any capacity Cam uses him in.

cam is the right coach for this team we needed a coach to come in leave the defence alone and just tweak things on the o side of the ball.so far everything this guy says i belive he is down to earth from what i hear the players like him already he is a players coach who knows how to use his players to maximize there ability's i expect big things from ronnie and booker this year and the rest of the team.:)

I like lorenzo but Ricky is just diffrent hope to see ricky again but i dont think we should put so much focus on him he is not are star runningback any more its ronnie now he could come back and be reall big help but dont make it seem like we need him
lorenzo will be a great addition to our team
