i was just wondering this?

i went to the stadium last season v the pats and i would say the stadium was only 65-70% full and i noticed on the game this week even now that we have a winning record and the team is moving foward the stadium is only 70-80% full

come on miami get behind the team!!!

i see no other game on tv where there are so many empty seats !!!!

this for me is very poor support of a great team

you dont see my beloved THFC with empty seats and we have been bottom of the league all season long and it costs much much more to see a EPL game than an NFL game!

Welcome to Miami.

You're talking about 1:00PM kickoffs after a Saturday night on South Beach in Miami. People will find other things to do in South Florida than spend the day in the hot sun watching a mediocre product toss some leather around. people were out late the night before so they might sleep until 1:00 in the afternoon and hit the beach later on. This isn't Green Bay or Cleveland where it's cold and not a lot to do other than watch football.

I've said it before, South Florida is spoiled by the weather. You can go out and you can do more. There's beaches and pretty ladies in every direction. In Green Bay it's cold, it's miserable and people stay indoors piled in front of their television watching the Packers on Sunday. Climate plays a huge role in attendance.

This may sound brutal but it's reality.

was was the last time the dolphins stadium was full for a dolphins game????

My guess is 2003 but I could most certainly be way off here. I didn't bother looking it up but 2003 is right off the top of my head. I believe that was the year that we just barely missed the playoffs in the final game of the season against the Patriots. Maybe we sold out the first few games of the 2004 season but my guess is that it wasn't long after that that the attendance really started to tail off.

Awesome pic. But it is true though. I understand Cane's point but its not like you can't party till one and hit the beach on Sunday any other week of the year. Just like anything else that would get boring after a while. I mean we're talking 8 games a year. And it's not like the stadium is in a rural area. Miami, Fort Lauderdale, etc. I sometimes go to Jests games just to tailgate, that's if Miami is not playing at the same time of course. What is funner than tailgating (drinking/eating) and then watching football, no matter where you are?

I agree with JCane305, but i think once this team starts winning on a consistant basis, the games will sell out or be very close to selling out.

At some point our economy is going to really affect ticket sales of all NFL teams, its not really that cheap to go to a game. October was like what 250,000 job losses in the US, and with more to come. So some of it is all the stuff thats been discussed, but I also think people would rather not shell out tons of money when they can watch it for free in the comfort of their houses.

The last time I was there was the Patriots game in 2006 which we won 21-0. The stadium was full.

Keep in mind, when you go 6-10 and 1-15 in back to back years the fans won't come. Winning will bring the fans back, and I think we'll start to see that the rest of the season. I did hear the crowd for the Chawks game was LOUD.

Give me a break. This topic has been beaten to death time and time again.

The Dolphins sold out PPS when they were 11-5 every year, the only reason they aren't doing it now is b/c lately the team hasn't been that good. This year is different and I hope the last 3 home games get sold out to capacity.

I used to think it was b/c there was other **** to do in Miami but that's just a lame excuse now. The game is 3 hours long, that's 1/8 of the day. Save your shopping at Target until 5pm if you really have to go.

Exactly why we are considered "fair weather" fans.

Not much to do in Cleveland? Granted I've never been there but I can't believe Cleveland is a boring city

You're right as well.

The difference is winning. The Dolphins are winning translates to, "Hey, let's go see the Dolphins." The Dolphins losing translates to, "Hey, let's go see some **** at Tootsies." In Green Bay you either go see the Packers, or you go see the Packers.

Miami fans are fickle. We lose, we go elsewhere. We win, we were there all along. Take the 'Canes. Look at how poor our attendance is this season. What happened to, "Attendance for the 'Canes should be up this season since they're moving further North to Dolphin Stadium. The people from Dade will continue to come and we'll pick up fans in Broward and Palm Beach counties."

Yeah, haven't seen that this year have we? 35,000 against North Carolina to open ACC play. The FSU game didn't sell out. Wake Forest was pathetic.

I go to more Hurricane games at Dolphin Stadium than some students and I'm 12 hours away. I book flights, I rent vehicles, and I'm at every away game as well supporting a mediocre product while still donating over $1000 to the University each year.

It's all about love and passion for these teams. Beaches, girls, dog tracks, nightlife, and other activities in a tropical climate will drive a wedge between people and their passion for their local teams. It's fact. It might be a lame excuse and you're certainly spot-on with that, but as I said before, it might be brutal but it is reality.

Cleveland isn't exactly a boring city perse, but it isn't exactly a place you want to be this time of year either. Personally, I think the only thing Cleveland has to offer is the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and anyone who knows anything about anything knows that the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame should be in Memphis. I wonder if they have the napkin that the Sex Pistols "respectfully" declined their induction to the Hall of Fame?
