Well we've had the FA excitement, draft, UDFA's now it's the La'el Collins sweepstakes thats drawing my interest. What a score that would be .....wonder how long it will drag out ......

latest : Update, 10:30 a.m.: La'el Collins is meeting with police Monday morning at the Louisiana State Police headquarters in Baton Rouge.
love to be a fly on that wall....

Will be interesting to see if he's wearing aqua and orange this fall or just plain orange...

Imagine how bitter he is going to be talking to them. He's gonna keep thinking about all the money he lost.

Yes. Him being a FA its going to be bidding war. I do not think there is a wage scale with him being a FA. If we get him somehow A+++ this offseason and draft our OLine would be set

There is a wage scale. If there wasn't top prospects would just skip the draft and sign as a free agent

That's why if he wasn't signed on the first three rounds he said he would skip the year and re enter the 2016 NFL Draft

That will be the icing on the came if he comes here. The position itself is still a weak link so Id be all on for him if he is proven innocent. I wish we used our last 5th on him imo for a safety net of at least having his rights

Players do not have the right to "skip the draft and sign as a free agent". That is what a "draft" is all about.

I read that he won't be eligible for the 2016 draft. If somebody had spent a 2015 draft pick on him and then didn't sign him, he would be eligible. But that didn't happen. His only choice is to sign as a free agent.

He will be a undf signing . If we somehow get him and he's innocent you couldn't possibly have asked for a better offseason than what hickey and Tannenbaum but together.

Suh .... Revamped younger better wr core. Albert , Collins , pouncey , turner , james .

Ajayi miller combo behind a solid line .

I'd be stoked ..... Really stoked

LOL. He should have done his homework a bit better and whoever his agent is/was should be fired for not knowing this:

But Collins won’t be able to enter the 2016 draft now. Players who are selected by a team but never actually sign a contract are allowed to re-enter the draft the following year, but this rule does not apply to players who go undrafted. All Collins can do now is sign with a team as an undrafted free agent, and the league puts strict limitations on how much undrafted free agents are able to sign for (again, it would be nice if NFL players had a union), meaning Collins will get a league-minimum contract.

This kid is not in the knife section of the toolshed that much is for sure, more like the hammer section.

Not a law expert but can Collins file suit against Police for all this lost money?

Must of hired the worst PR team on the face of the planet.

Reasons I believe we will get Collins.

- no taxes
- tannenbaums last employer is Collins current sports agency. (tannenbaum made them A LOT of $), he already has all the inside info on what's going on.
- getting away from Louisiana Should be a major plus for Collins.
- we have natural opening for him to play, at guard.
- in a few years he could have an opportunity to cash in and take Brandon Alberts job.
- whatever amount of $ we need, we have ready to spend. Tannenbaum and Ross can find other ways to out $ in his picket. After losing out on 1st rnd $, he's going t want to make up for it whatever ways possible.
- he already knows 2 players on the team. (Landry and Johnson)

I just hope he is not somehow involved in this horrendous crime. He needs to cooperate and tell them anything that can help. Catching the person responsible is the most important thing right now. Once he is cleared, then I would consider him for his football talents.

For what? The Police had nothing to do with his lost money. He is being questioned in a murder investigation, the police told everyone he is not a suspect at this point.

Heres the senario for his signing...........

"The UDFA’s are very limited in terms of signing bonus money. I don’t have the final number in front of me but IIRC each team can spend, in total, about $88,000 on all their undrafted rookies. That usually means a large number of players receiving signing bonuses that will not exceed $8,000. So that is a limiting factor for a player who is not drafted. The smallest signing bonus a 7th round pick will receive likely to be about $52,000. So that is a pretty big loss considering for many players the bonus is the only salary they will ever receive."
