Just saw this on Omar's twitter (following pro day at the U).

This could be a good or a bad thing; perhaps both. I think it will be more of a good thing for Lamar and the fins.

I've seen guys bulk up and lose speed, but i've also seen guys bulk up and break more tackles.

scraping speed in the process

True and speed is his game cause he's not shifty. I mean if he was shifty and elusive then scraping some speed is not a big deal, especially if he can add power to his game but I haven't seen it.

if he scrapes any of that rediculous quick acceleration thats when you got a problem...keeps adding weight and he will

He did break McKelvins leg

I was gonna say, he's sure to drop some weight in training camp in that brutal heat. Coming in a little over what he wants to play at might not be a bad idea.

7 pounds? Haha! Thanks Omar. I gain that in one weekend.

Yeah...that brought a smile to my face lol. But you don't see that shiftiness often, especially between the tackles when he hits the hole and needs to make one defender miss.

He works out with Frank Gore, who was also at the U Pro Day to watch Duke Johnson and others, so maybe he's getting advice on putting the weight on. We'll just have to see how it plays out.

I would assume most players way more in the off season than they do during the season......

He made a good cut against McKelvin but I honestly can't remember a play where he jukes anyone. A weight gain could create a loss of speed but could add some power to his game. Its way more important for him to add some bulk to break tackles and take a pounding better. He rarely played strong in the 4th quarter and who wants him be be the fastest guy in the league that goes down the easiest??? Too many arm tackles bring him down. He's gonna lose some weight due to the heat anyway so I'm just glad the guy is working hard!!!
