In the offseason, Miller met with LeSean McCoy, the best running back in the NFL last season. Among the things they talked about was how to thrive in Lazor's system and how to keep the defenses guessing every player. He also watched film on McCoy and picked his brain about different things and how to be successful not only on the field, but off it as well.

“He told me that the opportunity is great,” Miller said Sunday. “They always keep the defense on their toes. Once you get the ball, you’ve got to take advantage of the opportunity.”

Miller has put on between six and eight pounds of muslce this offseason with the hopes of breaking more tackles and improving on his rushing total of 709 yards last season. Joe Philbin has noticed the change.

“He looks good, he looks stronger than he’s ever been,” Dolphins coach Joe Philbin said. “I don’t think he’s sacrificed any speed whatsoever.”

Millers always had *It* as far as I'm concerned. He has some spacial awareness issues
and some technical errors. I still like the guy.

Miller's big issue was getting yanked and having Daniel Thomas come in for him OR the team chucking it way too much.

The pass pro will improve with a more committed plan to the run the ball.

Looks like he had a good day today according to Walker. Hope he can improve his pass protection.

Dolphins starting running back Lamar Miller had a good day with several nice runs. Miller looks like a decent fit for Miami’s new offense and has taken advantage of spread situations. The Dolphins asked Miller to get a little bigger in the offseason to help with durability and pass protection. “I want to say he weighed in at 221 or something like that,” Dolphins head coach Joe Philbin explained. “He looks good, he looks stronger than he’s ever been, and I don’t think he’s sacrificed any speed whatsoever.”

Worked out with gore all last year. Some help that was lol

He certainly has the skill set to succeed in this system, it'll be interesting (and hopefully crazy fun) to watch this season. The guy has only fumbled ONE time in 228 carries so far...that's my favorite part of his game.

He has the speed to excel in a Philly styled offense. Lets just hope he can put it all together and play well.

Our play calling was such a joke last year. When the run game was working, we passed. When the passing game was working, we ran. Here's hoping Lazor becomes the next great minded OC.

You sir were watching the same games I was watching.. we would have been more competitive in the saints game had we continued the running game which was GASHING if I remember correctly or it was at least VERY effective.. that gameplan by sherman killed us and the season never got back on track!

This is really what I am hoping for and expecting. Lazor could make a huge difference, and I feel sure he is out to make a name for himself. We have some offensive pieces, and nothing could be worse than the offense from last year. I think we can be exciting and unpredictable.

My exact thoughts upon opening this thread.

problem is gore isn't the same type of back. He only worked out with him cuz he went to UM like miller did. McCoy is the same type of rb. You don't go to a power back to learn to be a better speed back

Running backs run the ball. Miller has the tools, speed, agility, etc. I'd like to see him break more tackles and have more big runs but I think the play calling has hindered his productivity. Calling plays is a chess match and 9 times out of 10 we've made the bad move. He's gonna kill in Lazor's system because he can catch defenses off guard. That's the same case with the offensive line. The best feeling for an offensive lineman is knowing the principals of the offense and knowing your OC is setting you up for the kill. That's how you dominate games!

Lazor's offense is going to feature the running back position heavily this year. I expect Miller will get a lot more receptions this year. I'm glad to hear Miller is putting in the work trying to get better this offseason, but I'm not expecting too much from him. Hopefully I'm wrong

I hope he stood real close to both Shady and Gore and some of the greatness is passed on. Those two are players.
