A lot of the interview was standard questions and answers:

Will meet with his agent soon, thinks Gase has good energy, likes the guys in locker room and says the team needs to figure out how to win close games.

The one real thing he did say was he wants to be the featured back and get at least 20 touches a game.

Imo somethign tells me Miller stays. I think back to the Ravens game where Miller had a fumble on a long gain in the 4th with the score being close. From the stands i saw atleast 3 different players go over to Miller, looked like they were sayin we got you don't worry and we ended up winning the game. Says he cares about the guys in the locker room i think that goes a long way with his decision.

I could see that...

He's a Miami kid...went to Killian, the U...but they need to give him the ball if they keep him...waste if they don't and 20-25 touches a game is doable.

Miller has averaged 15 touches a game over the last two years, and do not see going to 20 a problem with Gase running more. Parker, Stills, and Cameron (if kept) also need more touches for this O to succeed. IMO, Landry is going to have to take a big cut from his 160 targets for 110 catches this year.

Im just curious what Ajayi's role would be in the new Gase offense.

He might be someone limited, I think thats a considerstion in all this also.

If he gets the contract he wants, I don't see why he should be worried about the amount of carries he gets. Hell, as long as I was getting a fat contract I wouldn't mind 15 carries a game, prolongs the career.

Would love to see Miller get more than 20 touches. He can break one at any time and is getting better at not going down at first contact. Miller should be a feature back with Ajayi spelling him from time to time. He is improving and if Gase has his way IMO he wants Miller back. I guess money will be the deciding factor.

Sweet. Welcome aboard the Gase Train where there is an understanding about the importance of the run game. Chicago for '15 had 468 run plays to 523 passing. Even with Manning as his QB, Gase still ran a more balanced offense in Denver than we have in the past three years since he has become an OC in the NFL.

For comparison, here are Gase's run ratios:

'13 - 40%
'14 - 42%
'15 - 47%

compared to Sherman and Lazor's:

'13 - 37%
'14 - 40%
'15 - 37%

Nature of the beast in every aspect of life. While the money is very important, showing what you can do, and challenging yourself to do it better than the next has a huge bearing for many if not most.

Others would love to be Matt Moore in throwing a dozen passes over 2 years and getting millions. They newer succeed.

Well i think a new coaching staff will play into his decision too, gotta imagine he would be more inclined to leave if we retained the same coaches who promised him carries that he didn't get.

I have nothing against players who openly say they will go where the money is because its a business. I honestly understand and respect that way to look at things. With that being said, with everything else being equal, I would rather have the player who's willing to take a paycut because he wants to stay with your team as long as you give him a bigger role. As opposed to the one who's sole decision point will be money related...

Unless your body has a shelf life and earning potential at its peak now.

Makes no sense for a running back in today's NFL to take a pay cut during their prime.

My thoughts exactly. I really hope we can keep him here. He should look at this as a new team essentially, rid of most of the trash of the prior regime.

I think you could also attribute that to Gase adapting to his players and team's strengths. In 13/14 it seems to me he wanted to utilize Peyton (or rather, peyton wanted to utilize peyton) but still ran the ball more than us. and with the bears it jumps to 47%! Thats a pretty solid number. In chicago, obviously Matt Forte was the life of the offense and went through him. We should utilize Miller more like Forte (ie- run him more, and use him out of the back field)
