Well, they play different positions (Sammy's a SS). And neither guy knows this defense as of right now. Safeties have to be fast in Saban's system. Sammy's instincts and anticipation would be great. But he doesn't have the speed.
he did not get released until late in the offseason he was injured last year but several teams wanted him, but he wanted to play with the future sb champs!
i would go knight, i think knight is underrated even at the press he receives. I am not playing down Schulters because he was a very needed pick up. Plus with Schulters, Jones can go back to his original position where he played better and our other saftey (Schulters) can also stay at his original position.
Either way, Miami has a very good football player.
knight is way to slow thats why saban did not resign him, how many times did you see knight running after the reciver after he got burned over the top?
yah they are different positions, and not comparable in style.
But you could compare Sammy Knight with Tebucky. T. Jones did actually play FS for the Saints but he's a natural SS. I think Jones will be better all around, except for maybe only a couple picks.
As for Schulters... beats A.Edwards/A.Freeman... so we definetley are way better at safety this year. Bell is healthy !! Bua could suprise !!
Schulters, to me, seems like the Brock Marion of five years ago, which isn't a bad thing.
Even with the speed difference, given the choice between Knight and Jones, as a SS, I think I'd take Knight.
Knight is strictly an in the box SS who lacks the ability to cover downfield. Outside the box he becomes a huge liability. Other than speed he and Schulters are similar players but lance gets the edge because of his speed.
