When he first entered the league in 2015, Collins was used as a true free safety and played deep down the field en route to an underwhelming overall grade of 49.2, which was the third-lowest grade among safeties that year. Then, in 2016, Collins was moved to strong safety and played much closer to the line of scrimmage and his grade sky-rocketed as he earned a spot on the PFF top 101 for two straight years. For such a turn to take place, it should be obvious that Collins is much better suited for playing as a box safety, and that’s the role he should play on his new team if he wants to reclaim his spot as one of the league’s best safeties.

That would possibly give us the best young safety duo in the NFL but thats a lot of money to pay for a safety unless it's an Ed Reed or Polamalu type.

So we are cutting TJ and Reshad?

That's basically paying TJ $6M to play somewhere else with no cap savings AND paying Reshad 12M to play somewhere else with a $5M savings. Dead hit of $18.5M and then pay Collins $12M ? $30.5M in safety money?

With this Dline it wont matter who we have back there. Build inside out.

Plus we cant cut Reshad right now just to pay a youger version of Reshad.

Collins was a top 5 mvp a couple of years ago or so. Hasn’t played to that level since.

Landon Collins is one of my favorite players in the NFL. I would love to see Collins in a Dolphins uniform. But, not at the enormous price tag it take to sign him; if he was to become a F/A. Signing Collins, would be a Mike Tannenbaum move, if he were still here. But fortunately, Miami's new F/O is taking a build through the draft approach. A most welcomed, change IMHO!!! No more high priced F/A.

We made a bigger mistake resigning Bobby McCain than we did on any FAs the last couple of seasons so I’m not too worried about cap dollars being spent on talented players. Landon Collins would make our secondary lethal in the way a consistent/healthy Reshad Jones used to.

Believe it or not it might be a huge draw to FAs having Minkah Fitzpatrick and the best corner in the NFL on your team.

Some people are more prepared to lose than others.

We signed IAQ a few years back and that looked like a steal until his unfortunate career ending injury.

Albert Wilson looked a stellar signing too until his unfortunate injury.

It might’ve been only one game but Josh Sitton was a lot better than anything we’ve had at Guard for awhile.

The previous regime really got no breaks. Just a bunch of mirages. The Dolphins FA mistakes of the past were not repeated by Gase and co.

I am always down for talented players if the deal is warranted.
