With the Dolphins trailing the Patriots 28-17 in the fourth quarter on Sunday, Miami went for it on fourth-and-11 at their own 38-yard line. At that point in the game, it was clear: Either the Dolphins needed to pick up the first down, or they were going to lose.

They didn’t pick up the first down when a pass to Jarvis Landry was incomplete. They lost. But Landry felt that he caught the ball, and he was upset that coach Adam Gase didn’t throw his challenge flag.

“I think we were in the position then where it really didn’t matter,” Landry said. “We didn’t have s— to lose. Throw the flag and see what happens. Go from there. You know, we didn’t have anything to lose. We’re giving the ball up on our side of the field. Something that could potentially turn in our favor. Who knows? We didn’t have anything to lose. We should have just threw the flag.”

I can't say I disagree with him. To me it looked like a catch and they only showed the replay a few times but, and I am bias of course, it looked like he had the ball caught when he hit the ground and it didn't come loose until he bounced once more. When he bounced I think that was when the defender was able to jar it loose because his hand was in there too.

I'm upset with Gase too but for an altogether different reason. Not going for it on 4th down was bs.

Gase and Landry wont have to worry it about much longer, that marriage is about to end, one way or the other. It Could either be Gase or Landry?? that is the question.

^ i'm sure there are underlying reasons he is mad, frustration is the norm when teams consistently underperform and these 2017 Fins stink in all phases...they are as bad as I have seen.

There was no way they were going to overturn that call in Foxboro. Landry can be mad at Gase on another team next year.
Agree....the call on the field was incomplete. I saw nothing in the replays that was conclusive one way or the other and they were not going to overturn the call on the field.

However, I would have challenged it anyway. We had absolutely nothing to lose by doing so and if your best player is telling you he caught the ball, then there is an argument to be made that you support him in that situation. I don't think it would have made a difference other than to your own player.....but again, we had nothing to lose.

At the time I was calling for the red flag too, but, as we agreed, it really didn't matter either way. Maybe Gase not throwing the flag that Landry was begging for was his way of saying "sit down and shut up, I run this team". It would be interesing to know where the locker room is right now.

I’m not too bothered by it, the replays we saw seem more like an incompletion than a pass, unless he caught it with his legs? Which is possible still but idk i just don’t see that call getting reversed

To the people complaining about Gase on 4th down... get over yourselves. We went for plenty of 4ths this game trying to be aggressive and / or when we could in the situations... the 4th and short was a good decision when you factor in that Aikens forced a fumble and we got shammed out of a recovery deep in their territory

So the coach should have trusted Landry but not the replay. It wasn't a catch and everyone saw it, throw a flag to pacify Landry would have been nuts.

Good chance that neither of them is back next year

Ozzy rules!!
