Laremy Tunsil didn't deserve draft-night humiliation-ESPN

Yup basically the worst that could happen happened for him. All things considered he handled it pretty well, aside from Ole Miss comments but oh well, a lot to deal with on camera all at once.

This is a good article. The premise being, Tunsil coming clean now instead of trying to hide makes him less likely to be a problem in the future. I agree. Dolphins now need to surround the guy with good influencers.

Wow..

The commish is such a piece of ****.

Roger Goodell says situations like Laremy Tunsil's are "all part of what makes the draft exciting".

Yes, of couse. Watching some kids dreams and reputation go up in flames by some angry twitter hacker is so exiciting.

I'm still not behind some of these writers defending smoking pot. It's still an illegal activity that somebody who stands to earn millions shouldn't be doing.

With that said, great article. He did handle it well

I read this earlier today. Very good read.

Yeah no ****.

Exciting to watch a kid be embarrassed and drug through the mud on a national spotlight and lose millions.

I agree 100%. They showed that picture over and over again. Poor kid. I think somebody at Ole Miss posted that pic, and that's why he threw them under the bus. He knows who posted that picture,

I didn't want to clutter the front page with more threads about him so I'll post this in here:

http://ftw.usatoday.com/2016/04/bob-quinn-lions-laremy-tunsil-weed-eliminate-nfl-draft-prospects

In light of all that, Lions GM Bob Quinn said that if he were to eliminate every player who’d smoked weed in college, he’d be cutting his options in half. Here’s what he told ESPN:

“I think you have to take everything into consideration. If we took players off the board because they smoked pot in college or marijuana, like half the board would be gone. Realistically, that’s the day and age we live in, and you have to evaluate the risk and the rewards of the player.”

Even before Miami officially picked him, I felt bad for this guy.. My wife knows nothing about football and said, man the Dolphins should draft that poor guy after I explained what was going on...

Like Daytona said... watching this guy get embarrassed and drug through the mud no matter who he plays for is NOT exciting nor fun, it was painful to watch, but much like politics the media thrives off of it.

Glad Miami picked him. Chip on shoulder he's gonna be a mauler for the team that believed in him.

Goodell better watch out. With comments like that, people may start an 'NFL leaked it" conspiracy theory.

That article seems to sum up some of my feelings today, I literally was just posting them on anther site in response to someone criticizing Tunsil for admitting the Ole Miss stuff, I'm going to copy and past that response here since it ties into a few things from the article.

I get the "Don't snitch" angle, but as a Dolphin fan who doesn't care about Ole Miss, I kind of saw that moment as a small positive...
I totally read that as him trying to live up to the good, honest guy he just told everyone that he was. I read it as him trying to defer it, but when it came back up he blurted out the truth to avoid "liar" to the resume of negatives that was beginning to pile up.
It was a no win situation, and really I don't blame the kid who was in the unthinkable situation, they could have shielded him better in that moment considering the unprecedented circumstance.

Upon further reflection today, I certainly like the pick more.
It certainly made sense since there wasn't a standout there at #13, so the reward outweighs the risk.
And looking at the situation - he wasn't arrested, he didn't fail a drug test, he wasn't labeled an a-hole, etc..he had the misfortune of having a couple mistakes and bad decisions aired to a national viewing audience. It doesn't exonerate him, but if you judged every guy in that green room by a couple private videos/texts, how many would be in a similar situation?

the absolute worst to me was Suzy Kolber. He clearly tried to avoid the question and she kept asking him directly. This kid is barely in his 20's and it felt like watching a police interrogation.

Where's Joe Namath when you need him?

Looking at some of our past drafts, the NFL should start testing scouts and general managers for marijuana!!

There's a reason Goodell gets booed every time he comes up to make the draft call. I never get tired of it hearing it lol
