Let’s just say you can tell it was Laremy’s first time playing left tackle in the NFL. The transition from a college spread attack left tackle, to a pro-style left tackle is one that sometimes takes time for a player, even one that has been in the league for a whole season.
“I never assumed it was going to be easy,” Tunsil said. “Playing left tackle at the highest level of football, I never thought it would be easy.” (Hal Habib, PalmBeachPost)
“It was a bad taste — a horrible taste,” he said.” … I knew I could have been better. Now I’m here, a new season, a new person. Let’s get it.” (Hal Habib)
Comments like that show the young player is accountable and knows that he must start living up that talent everyone in the organization knows he has.
This offseason, the Dolphins added veteran left guard John Sitton to play on the inside of Tunsil. Hopefully giving him a presence, he can trust, so he can focus on protecting the ever so important blindside of the returning Ryan Tannehill.

I think everyone knows it was more of a mental thing than physical with Tunsil and that is what bothers me a bit.
Idk if it was lack of prep time, lazyness, IQ, losing Tannehill or whatever but I'll just give him the benefit of doubt that it was his first year as a LT at the NFL level. Now if that same BS (penalties and missed blocking assignments) rears its ugly head this year, I'd say its time to worry.

I’m tired of articles on Jordan Philips, Devante Parker,& Laremy Tunsil about taking the next step. At this point they are who they are. I’m not holding my breath for any of them to become elite. I’ll just settle for one of those 3 to be consistently solid.

Draft a franchise LT and play him at G as a rookie and now year 3 you're still trying to develop him at Tackle. Dolphins gonna Dolphin.

Albert was a Pro Bowler going into the draft and in no one’s wildest dream could we have expected Tunsil to full to us at #13. Our interior OL was a weak area since Incognito was bounced out. I don’t fault the coaching staff for playing their best five linemen. Just be happy that Cutler and Moore were taking the hits while Tunsil spent a year learning the position.

I said for the last two years that we needed Branden Albert to mentor Tunsil for 2 seasons, because this kid doesn't have the best habits. Last year Albert's absence really showed. Not because of his play, but because of his mentorship of Tunsil.

I really like his comments, hopefully this does show his realization and re-dedication to grinding. The talent is obviously off the charts HoF caliber, so for him it comes down to the "want to" … because some players want to be the best, and some just think they're good enough naturally without going the extra mile, and are content with the money and fame. Hopefully, the work ethic of another ultra-talented OL playing next to him, Josh Sitton, keeps Tunsil focused enough to put in the extra work and really become the great player he has the potential to be.

We're all hoping and expecting him to up his game. Now we need to see it.

The morons in charge over two regimes have had a bad habit of playing guys out of their natural position; especially with O-linemen and LBs. And, if they needed a RG, the odds were that they'd sign a Free Agent LT to play the position. So, it appeared that it was SOP (standard operating procedure) when Ireland traded up to draft Dion Jordan at #3 and the coaches weren't even sure which position he was going to play.

Agreed. We all thought he was decent as a rookie LG and hoped switching back to his natural position would come with ease but for whatever reason it just didn't go so well... dude was going to be the #1 overall pick, there is no way he doesn't have the talent to be an elite tackle. We desperately need him to step up and be consistent.

Cmon man you've got to give a guy more than 2 years in the league to judge him, and playing in a new position as a rookie... the other two, fine judge away, but you have to give Tunsil at least this season, then you can start calling him a bust if its deserving

Slow down. I never mentioned the word bust in my post. Though if I did it would be towards Parker lol

Would you have rather us passed on Tunsil or benched a very good LT to start the year?? Our team did the right thing based on our situation..If you're going to make fun of them at least make it about something valid...
