lets just say in 05 draft class with the # 2 pick we had what would our last 3 head coaches done if they were in sabans shoes

SHULA this probally was the hardest but i think shula would have gone with AARON RODGERS and tried to bring him in at some point in 05 to start his growing pains.but i think shula goes QB ;)

JJ well this is the easiest JJ trades down picks up a 1 and a 2 then trades that 2 for a late 2 and a third giving him a mid first a MID AND A late 2 and two 3. with his mid first he gets MARLIN JACKSON(CB) :D

WANNY look for a move out of this pick because wanny can not afford to blow this ,so he trades out here as well and gets a early 1 and a 3
with his early 1 he gets ADRIAN MCPHERSON(QB) :yell:

wanny would have picked up cedric benson. gauranteed. would that have been a bad pick, probably not at all.

JJ, would have traded down.

Shula, im not old enough to make a good enough assumption here...

where is benson btw? why doest he play?

He's with the Bears and made the idiotic/unfortunate choice to hold out for money just as Thomas Jones finally stopped breaking his hand on phones long enough to become a darn good running back. He's popping off big yardage every week for whatever reason.

Not a fair comparison as Wanny would have been the only one who needed to draft a running back.

Ricky would never have left under JJ or Shula.

Given that:

Wanny = Benson

JJ = Trade down and get LT, CB and C with first three picks

Shula = Braylon Edwards

wanny would have gave up our first three picks for a top running back like eddie george.

Wanny
1st - RB Cedric Benson
2nd - someone stupid

JJ
would get Ricky to comeback, trade down w/Washington,
1st a - DE Demarcus Ware
1st b - CB Marlin Jackson
2nd - LT Khalif Barnes

Shula
would get Ricky to comeback
1st - WR Braylon Edwards
2nd - LT Khalif Barnes

lets be realistic guys, saban tried trading down. No one wanted to trade up. trading with washington? Come on, it was clear they wanted jason campbell.

Washington never offered both of their first round picks for our pick.

As far as I know, the best offer we had was from Cleveland, who offered the third pick and a 4th round pick to move up. Would JJ have taken that? He might have, just to accumulate some picks.

Without the opportunity to trade down, I believe JJ would have chosen between Ronnie Brown, Cedric Benson, Cadillac Williams, and Braylon Edwards if available. Those were the guys that were rated in that area. I think JJ would have gone for Ronnie Brown though. I remember back in the 1999 draft. JJ tried his damndest to trade up and get Edgerrin James. He had Edgerrin rated higher than Ricky because he felt James was a more complete running back, so I think he may have gone for the complete back over the power type back in Benson.

Also, I think it should be noted that it is very unlikely that Shula or Johnson would have dealt that second round pick for AJ Feeley, so in that scenario, I think you would have to give both of them that high pick in the second round.

They also wanted Braylon Edwards. I'm sure JJ would have gotten something done.

ricky wasn't back yet at the time. he couldn't come back until june(?) or he would have been suspended for the whole year.

I believe JJ also offered a 1st and 3rd for Marshall Faulk, but Polian would not trade him inside the division. I'm not positive on this but i'm pretty sure that it was reported on ESPN during the draft that Minnesota offered both of their 1st rd picks, but the offer came in a little late after the Phins already made the decision to draft Brown. Ditka has gotten some grief for trading his whole draft for Ricky while with the Saints, but JJ was willing to do basically the same for Edge, I believe they had it worked out through two trades though.

Anyway I think JJ would trade down, Wanny takes Benson, and Shula would take Mike Williams. I don't think any of those scenarios are terrible. Benson will be getting his first start this week I believe, it's been tough coming into camp late for him and Thomas Jones playing great.

Yeah...I think Miami actually offered more than the Rams did for Faulk, but the Colts wouldn't trade him to an East rival.

Shula would have taken Brown or Edwards. No Marino, Montana or Elway at No. 2 this year. He would have figured with Brown or Edwards you have a stud that can help the team between 5-7 years.
