Since the 2008 season up until last season the Miami Dolphins offense has scored 30 pts or more a total of 13 times!
2008 -2x
2009 - 4x including a loss to the Saints where they scored 34.
2010 - 1x
2011 - 4x
2012 - 2x

That's 13 games out of 80!!! Now I'm not saying that you have to be an offensive juggernaut but my god put to damn ball in the end zone. Can't rely on the defense all the time to save you. I guess I was spoiled having Marino but this is pathetic. Going on 6 yrs and still can't figure this out. Unreal! The Jets game last yr was the last time they actually blew a team out. It feels like 10 yrs ago. Also 2008 was the start of Ireland's tenure. Just thought I'd throw that in there.

You need to compare that to other teams and see how bad that really is.

Denver has scored 343 pts in 8 games this year. Miami has scored more points than that 3 times since 2001: 360 in 2009, 344 in 2001 and 378 in 2002.

Those figure are for the entire season though. In 2000, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2010, 2011 and 2012 Miami scored less pts their whole year than Denver has through 8 games.

I mentioned something similar deep in a thread last night. Miami is on a streak of 16 consecutive games without scoring 30 points or more. Only Pittsburgh has a longer streak. Even doormats like Jacksonville and Tampa Bay have busted the 30 level more recently than we have.

No excuse for it, especially since we reach the 17-24 level so dependably and often so quickly into the game. We don't finish. It was extremely fortunate that 24 points was enough in the Colts game, after it was tied at 17 at halftime. We had 14 in that game in the first quarter and ended with 24.

We are scoring 12.4 points in the 1st half.
That is a big improvement from last year when we scored 8.8

But in the second half we only score 9.3 points
Just can't finish these games.

I wonder how much those numbers would change if you took out defensive scores? Who was the QB? Is he on the roster?

Henne put up 4 30 point games in row in 09.

It was the 1st in like 15 years when Marino was playing

We didn't score 30 the rest of that season

It goes on

I've dissected that in other posts, but most of the points during our splendid 4 game run that year were scored by the defense and running game.

I posted this because I found it to be very disturbing. This organization has had 13+ years to fix this and crapped out but for a few times the offensive scoring has been so so. It's been a lethal concoction of bad drafts, free agent signings & coaching. I know that Miami has had its share of pro bowl caliber players on offense as well. I'm not discrediting that but they haven't put it all together.
