i am glad we got the last ppocket passer from michigan. From now on ul see michigan with a dual threat qb under rodriguez. But i believe henne has a great future for us look at what ryan and flacco did and he was in conversations with flacco more than ryan but still parcells and co. had to like him enough to pass on ryan i think henne will remind alot of us of the marinos years i hope anyway

Whom is a previous Michigan QB that was worth a crap in the last 20 years? This is a BUST 10 aka BIG 10 thread more than a Dolphin thread. Henne did show potential in the preseason though and he was targeted as much by us as Ryan and Flacco. As a matter of fact at one point during the season our FO said Henne was just as good as either.

Tom Brady, Elvis Grbac and Brian Griese.

Todd Collins was a bust.

And Drew Henson in MLB.

There has only been 8 starting QB's (up to Henne) since 1989.

Brady is a product of cheating. Brady and henson both sucked it up at Mich and neither could win nor hold the starting job and without spygate and made up rules (tuck) Brady's fate would have been the same or worse than Hensons. Brian Greise with all his hype was never better than a #2.

may have been more of a big ten topic but lets flip it how many of us out there r believers in henne i think everyone complains about the receivers and they wouldnt as much if penn could throw it more than 25-30 yards at most accurately no safeties has to worry about turning and running cause if he tries to throw it that far its gonna be a lame duck so we creat a 30 yard coverage area and that hurts us when henne gets his chance on the outher hand we can take advantage of speed like ginn and bess when henne throws it 60 yards down the field it will open everything up a little bit IMO

No problems with Henne. He was a 4 year starter for a much critisized Mich team that underacheived (if you still beleive the poll system) and showed he had all the attributes to play at this level. He has the arm and he really improved after we signed Pennington in accuracy. I don't buy all the hype about arm strength and Penny and he made some nice deep throws all throughout the year. Henne has the chance to learn from the most accurate QB in NFL history while he prepares to take over. It's a win win situation for all IMO.

Brady deserves some credit. I do believe the system makes Brady look much better, but he deserves some credit.

Griese was overrated due to his dad.

I really can't think of any college (except USC) that has had a better track record with QB's in the NFL in the past 20 years. Marshall may have a shot at that title with Leftwich and Pennington. But none hav ebeen head and shulders above MI

At least we both agree Elvis was the man.

Just for the record I am not a Michigan fan in the least.

I have to agree here. You have to give Brady some credit. He is calm in the pocket, can throw a pretty nice ball and knows how to be the commander on the field.

I agree its a great luxury to have all those weapons around you, and I do think he is good just not great! as some people make him out to be.

The QB situation I am curious to see is the Matt Cassal situation. Is he a product of the system? Can he be that succesful without the talent around him?

WTF is going to happen has me clueless.

If the patriots keep him, they are going to have tons of money locked up in 1 position.

If they trade him, I am curious to see how good he really is or how average he really is on the next team.

or does the Patriots do to Brady what they did to Brady predecessor?
hmmmm
Chubbs

LOL. He was the best of the group I'll give you that. But the man? I give Brady no credit because he deserves none. You will see. Brady is being done just like Bledsoe right now and without cheating he will be the loser he was at Mich.

Except of course Brady, those Quarterbacks were either very marginal or very bad. I've always agreed with the BUST 10 statement, especially for skill position players.

Is someone being a bit of a homer here? Brady is a GREAT qb, not just good. Even if there was cheating, you still have to make those throws/evade pass rushers/manage the clock. Griese made the pro bowl while in Denver also. I appreciate your fanhood though, i really do. Saying Brady isn't a great qb is like saying grilling in the summer time with friends and a brewski in hand is never any fun. Know what i mean?

Three superbowls. That just doesn't happen from getting some video tape. You still have to MAKE that happen.
He broke the NFL TD pass record with Moss.
He passed to Welker often enough to break their franchise record for completions.

And from what i gather (i am not a big college guy) Joe Montana stunk it up at Notre Dame so college doesn't have to directly translate to the Pro's, See: David Carr

I am as big a Patriots hater as anybody, but this assessment of Brady is way off. Tom Brady=Drew Henson? Really?!

Can you tell me what game Chad Pennington threw a great deep ball. Not counting flee flickers! thanks

The only question is...can you come up with a more successful QB school within the last 20 years or so?
Other then USC of course. QB's come out from under rocks. Heres a decent link to try to make a case:
http://bleacherreport.com/articles/13247-which-colleges-really-produce-the-best-nfl-qbs/page/4

I think the only other 2 competators may be Marshall or Oregon.
While a lot of Michigan QB's have been less then steller I would have to say they are among the most consistently medicore.

I agree the Big 10 is espeically bad at translating skill positions to the NFL, but I am just discussing individual schools and the QB's they produce.

Whats funny is barring some kind of mega fluke, Brady is going to be a first ballot HOF right there in the same room with Dan, in spite of how much people here may not like it.
