Wow, what a game. First half was all defense. That turnover was like someone sucked the air out of the stadium.
We didn't play particular horrible on offense in the first half but we did not score a TD despite getting into the redzone twice. Considering it was a very fast first half and we had only three possessions that hurts twice as hard. We moved the ball well but we didn't score a TD.
Second half was much better scoring wise. Tannehill had a solid game. Didn't make many mistakes, was mostly accurate but, man, what's up with that missing deep ball. It is becoming very frustrating.
There was one play, I think our first possession in the second half, where we had a 3rd and 20 or so. There was some pressure which made Tannehill flush out of the pocket but there was Gibson open over the middle some 40 yards downfield. He snuck behind the DB. Granted there was a safety over the middle 10 yards behind Gibson but here is an advice:
If you are on 3rd and 20 heave it out there. Four things can happen:
a) you complete to Gibson
b) it goes incomplete
c) the recovering DB causes a PI
d) the safety intercepts
An interception that deep is almost like a punt. Which we did (punted) the next play anyways. Just make opposing teams aware that we are going deep.
Landry, besides his fumble, is just electrifying. Almost every time he touches the ball you feel something good is happening.
Considering that we had Albert out and that we rebuild our entire OL during this offseason I think our OL did a great job. Yes, there was some pressure and we gave up 5 sacks (couple though go to Tannehill) this unit did a terrific job considering we lost Albert on a short turn around. I don't know how you guys feel but Benton should receive some recognition this year.
I won't say much about our D. Outstanding. They didn't create a turnover, though we came close at times. They gave a little too much room to Mr 7-11 Hogan but anytime you shut down Watkins and limit your opposing offense to 230 yards and 3 FGs you did a good job.
Negative: 4th and 3 at the Buffalo 40 with 30 seconds to go. We punt. Really? Why not go for it? Do you really think Kyle ****ing Orton is driving the Bills down the field with 30 seconds left? We need to grow some Balls.
Laugher: Where were the Bills fans? The stadium was solid in Dolfan hands. I don't even think there were 5000 Bills fans.
Sadness: A lot of Dolfans didn't make it. Several friends texted me yesterday that they got stuck in accidents, rush hour etc. I think after the stadium was filled we missed about a couple thousand people.
Biggest Surprise: the player introduction. I was getting ready to tape the player intro on the big screen the lights went off and a enormous light show and firework show was displayed. I did tape it but I never got to switch the camera to night time mode. So the video is very grainy. I see if I can somehow fix it and will then post it but, wow, what a show.
Overall a great Thursday night, prime time game with a win over a division rival. At 6-4 we can now sit back on Sunday and watch the rest of the NFL and continue to dream of the playoffs.
