I know the fans on here LOVE big body WR's. So may I introduce to you Darren Waller from Georgia Tech - 6'6" 238 Ibs - 4.46 spped.

Waller wasn't overly productive at GT mainly because of their run first.....and second....and third offense. And someone else may have already mentioned this guy but I didn't see a thread about him yet. But I think this kid has some real upside and could be the big redzone target we need.

Now I will hear Hoops tell me why he isn't even worth a late round flyer...

It all depends on whether or not we take a WR in the 1st or 2nd round. With only 6 picks and a lot of holes on offense and defense I don't see us doubling up on any positions outside of offensive line. We need two Guards with one of them having some Guard/Tackle versatility preferably, WR, CB, Safety, LB (weak or middle), backup RB, backup QB, and I could also see us drafting a DT. Now prioritize that and fit all those needs into 6 picks. We really need about 2 or 3 LBs too but this is a pretty weak linebacker class and some undrafted free agent may be just as good as a guy we draft late so I probably wouldn't spend more than 1 pick on a LB.

IMO if he wants to make it in the NFL it's as a TE. For whatever reason his athletism and size just never seemed to show up in games, was extremely inconsistent.

He's kind if the perfect example of why I don't take 40 times too serious.

I agree with what your saying. Do you think or does anyone else think since we essentially used a 3rd on WR (Kenny Stills) that we may not take a WR in the 1st or 2nd round? I know there is some question whether who will control the draft either Tannebaum or Hickey but based on Tannebaum's draft history he likes to go defense in the 1st round.

DeAndre Smelter is the better of the two WRs at GT anyway but like I said...don't see us doubling up on WRs in this draft. Which makes going for a project WR\TE like Waller unlikely.

I kind of hope Parker is not available when we pick at #14 so everyone (myself included) wont be disappointed if we pass on him.

I don't think he will be there. I think if Brandon Scherff or La'el Collins are there at 14 Dolphins will pick one of them. It doesn't look like we're addressing OG in free agency.

It's really hard to say what the plan is because I don't see a plan. I'll just leave it at that.

look at the history of big GT WRs. I would take a flier. kinda funny considering GT is a triple option team

Ya you guys sold me on Smelter for sure. It also REALLY helps that he has excellent hands, I won't even waste my time with a WR who has bad hands in college, which def represents Waller. Also doesn't hurt Smelter will be a great special teams player, and with project players, that's really important.

Waller is just one of those guys that doesn't make sense to me, physically gifted, amazing opportunity, easy routes, and just doesn't deliver.

I have WR off the board for us in rnd 1 and 2 if we get Crabtree, which I'm expecting we will.

In the first two rnds, I think well be looking at pass rushers, oline, corners, in no particular order.

Based on what I saw at Shrine practice there's a good chance people are just viewing Waller at the wrong position.

His quickness and acceleration in short spaces aren't compelling against corners. But he showed a good comfort level with using his size and physicality to bully smaller defenders and catch the football. And when you get him on the hoof into 3rd and 4th gear, there's a new dimension that really poses problems.

To me, that's a developmental tight end.

As I recall, Charles Davis and mayock agreeing that he does not high point very well for a guy his size or something along those lines. Can't haul it in.

If we don't sign a FA WR IMO we will double down on the position in the draft ... and I don't think we will invest in a first round pick. I think both will be later .... perhaps in the second depending on who's sitting there with our 2nd round pick

After reviewing film smelter is the better of the 2. Waller needs to be a TE like ck said. Smelter is extremely intriguing

I also don't think we double down. We just need a big guy. Hazel will impress. We doubled down last year

DeAndre Smelter is one of my favorite players in the draft. If not for his injury, I think he'd be soaring up draft boards. 11" hands, outstanding RAC, great blocker, the strength of 10 bulls. No, but he's a legit beast at WR. Abused Kendall Fuller.

I'll take him as late as I can get him, but he's a player I'd prioritize. Very undervalued.
