I asked Bernie if there was any chance Martz would end up in Miami as the new OC. This was his response.

Becks,

Martz is unpredictable and moody, so no one knows for sure. But I doubt very much he would go to Miami as OC. He told me a while back that he'd consider being an OC for Lovie Smith in Chicago or OC in San Diego, but that's it.

Why would he go to Chicago and not Miami? That'd be *more* of a blow to his ego, if anything? He'd be coaching under his old DC after being fired.

Not sure of his reasoning but that is coming DIRECTLY from Martz

Norv Turner's doing the same thing in going to the 49ers and coaching under Nolan. Nolan was Turner's DC in Washington. Although Norv's ego isn't near what Martz's is. But I could see him going to Chicago and not here. Which is fine by me, I don't want him.

Yeah, I mean who would want Mike Martz running your offense

I like Martz, but he doesn't fit in with a team like ours with two top tier Running backs.

His talents are in the passing game...

He would be cool in a Raiders uniform though. IMHO, that is the perfect fit. I doubt Al would do it though. He likes to get his head coaches cheap...

Imagine him designing plays for Randy Moss...

Norv Turner's a different situation. He's not a fevered ego like Martz is. Going from HC to OC is not exactly new to him. Martz will probabaly handle it a little less well, especially someone hired out from under him.

No one knows what Martz is really like.

The media blows everything out of proportion. I've never heard any of his players diss him. Even the ones he let go. Please don't get caught up in what ESPN reporters say. Look what happened with the TO/Mike Irvin drama. Now they don't even talk about that situation. Irvin was starting something and it blew up in ESPNs face.

Martz's biggest issues are with personel and in game decision making. As a OC he is probably the best.

That's cuz he couldn't run the defense...

So logically, the Rams brought in another offensive coordinator, with less experience than Martz. There are serious flaws in Martz's gameplan, and I doubt our players would like to learn another complicated offense. We need to hire from within, and keep the style of play Linehan instituted.

I don't think the problem here is an ego to big to be a coordinator... I think it's being such a subordinate coordinator as he would be in Miami.

In Miami it's Saban's show. Period. And that is definately going to impact what coordinators we get in Miami.

I don't think it's a bad thing... but I would not look for Miami to go after high personality guys... they don't like being in organizations as autocratic as Miami's.

I really don't buy much of what you said there. Linehan had free reign to run his offense, the only time I think Saban interfered was when it became apparent Linehan would be better served being on the sideline than in the booth.

Any coordinator interested in winning and getting a crack as a head coach will jump to get here.

Theres no telling what the relationship may or may not be between Saban and Martz, Many coaches do choose to stay within their circle when bringing in assistants.

Martz is a cancer. He single handedly desroyed a good Rams team that he had inherited from Dick Vermiel. The talent that team had, they should have been competing for 2 or 3 Super Bowls. Go away Mike just go away!
