He's projected now to drop to the later part of the 1st round.

"That's good news for the Miami Dolphins, who likely will be in the market for an inside linebacker. They're not interested in re-signing unrestricted free agent Channing Crowder.

ESPN draft analyst Todd McShay's latest mockup has the Dolphins selecting Laurinaitis with the 25th pick.

Laurinaitis is rated either No. 1 or No. 2 at the position depending on the draft guru making the projection. Scouts Inc. rates him the 24th-best player in the draft.

Laurinaitis is scheduled to meet with the Dolphins on Saturday night at the NFL scouting combine here in Indianapolis."

if they don't acquire Brown in free agency, I think they will draft a center with their first pick
wouldn't be too quick to take Crowders' jersey from him. he's not gone yet & has real value (not top $ value) but is valuable in the middle. he fills one of those holes Sparano is always talking about

Please dont draft him. as much as the Dolphins used to love busts, i dont think it is what the team needs right now.

I think we have multiple viable options with which i will be very pleased with.

Alex Mack should be a solid Center and Hakeem Nicks will be a good big WR. Obviously Laurinaitis would look good in the middle. If we chose either of those 3, I would be pleased. I will probably add people to that list as time goes along and take a few away as the draft nears.

I trust the guys in the FO which is a very odd feeling.

obviously your wrong. haha. sry to be harsh but no. lol

He'd be a terrible pick. Wouldn't fit our system at all.

Why's that? He's got the size, leadership ability, intangibles, work ethic, productivity, and ability to drop into coverage and blitz better than just about any MLB in this year's draft, including Maualuga.

His only weakness is shedding blocks, which many people have blown out of proportion.

It's really baffling considering how many of the same posters who call Laurinaitis overrated were all clamoring for Dan Conner last year.

I've just never really been impressed by him. Seemed like he disappeared in alot of games this year. I've never really been that impressed by OSU linebackers either.

There are guys I'd rather have than him. If we're going to get an ILB, I'd rather get someone like English or Sintim at OLB with our 1st rounder, and someone like Zack Follett from Cal in the later rounds.

I agree with your train of thought, I'd much rather try and upgrade the OLB position in the first round rather than draft Maualuga or Laurinaitis. I just see all these people writing off Laurinaitis because he has a little trouble shedding blocks. Is Rey Maualuga better than Laurinaitis in Ohio State's defense as opposed to all that talent at USC?

Haven't seen much of Follett, but I know that he's on the radar.

To me, Follett would be an excellent pick, he's incredibly underrated, he's a great leader, etc.

Would allow us to address some other need earlier in the draft.

One of the reasons that he seemed to disappear in big games is that teams aimed to block him. They targeted him and in those situations his teammates made the plays instead. He does have trouble shedding blocks, which might be a big problem in our system. He hasn't played in a 3-4 before, so who knows how he will do. I personally feel that a steal in this draft would be Marcus Freeman. He never got the recognition that he deserved but he was always making plays. He's fast and has a knack of getting to the ball carrier.
