There is a lot more at the link below with Q&A's from Lazor (Miller, Dallas Thomas, slow starts), Philbin (slow 1st half, Chargers game, reaction to the win), and Coyle (Jordan, Freeny, Mitchell, run D, Rivers). Mostly coach speak but still a good read.

The Dolphins are nearly halfway through the season yet receiver Brian Hartline’s stats are not even close to previous seasons.

After back-to-back 1,000 yard seasons, Hartline is on pace for just 46 catches and 491 yards this season. In Sunday’s 27-14 win against Jacksonville — a game where Miami’s defense scored two touchdowns and picked up the slack for a struggling offense — Hartline caught just one pass on four targets and had two drops.

Here’s what offensive coordinator Bill Lazor had to say today, with more thoughts weekly thoughts from Lazor, coach Joe Philbin and defensive coordinator Kevin Coyle.

Bill Lazor

Q: Is Brian Hartline fighting it?

A: I think Brian is a guy that is used to having a lot of production and he wants to contribute. He has confidence in himself and his ability to contribute and I have confidence in him. It’s a long season, so sometimes you go through little waves, up and down. If he’s frustrated with certain things right now, I have pretty good confidence that he’ll be able to channel that into being more productive. I think people around here have known Brian long enough. I don’t know if we have a harder worker on the field, at least in my history of football that’s the most important thing that will translate into production. I think it will show up.

Our take: You have to think Hartline will improve but if he doesn’t turn it around quickly the Dolphins will have to readjust. Hartline is being paid like a top-tier No. 2 receiver and Miami doesn’t have a ton of options if he doesn’t improve. Rookie Jarvis Landry is playing well in the slot but he’s likely not the answer on the outside right now. Brandon Gibson would be an option but he hasn’t been the same since tearing his patellar tendon last year. Rishard Matthews had a touchdown Sunday and continues to be solid. But what the Dolphins really need — and they likely can’t address until the offseason — is a skilled outside receiver with height. Miami doesn’t even have much height at the tight end spot. Charles Clay, who is also struggling, is one of the league’s smaller tight ends.

Amari Cooper would be nice....Roll Tide.

Expecting more would require him to stay on his feet at least 50% of the time, amirite?

Or maybe just even hanging onto the ball at this point.

I know I'll sound like a homer due to the name, but man it would be nice to pick him up. He'd be great in this offense. Blake Sims has the highest qbr in the nation thanks primarily to Coop.

Sure. And Gurley in the second round? Unless Miami goes in the crapper or Cooper is outed as the Green River Killer there's no chance Miami gets him. I like how you think though.

He'll be long gone by the time we pick, but I agree that a WR corps of Wallace, Landry, and Cooper (or Kevin White) would be absolutely filthy.

There's no way Hartline is back in 2015 on that contract.

Without Hartline's slow developing double and triple moves in this offense, he's a below average WR.

Yes, below average... I don't have a clue why Matthews hasn't been handed his snaps, he's better at everything.

Hartline literally offers nothing.

No doubt. More realistically Miami could draft Davante Parker from Louisville and I think he'd be a good complement to what the team already has at wide receiver. Due to his foot injury, Parker could end up going in the 3rd round. I like that he wins the one on one battles and is a very good receiver with the ball in the air. At 6-3 he'd give the Dolphins some height at the position.

Every time I read an article it says we need a tall, strong WR....put Matthews in the game!! The kid can play!

He can play but he's only 6' tall and doesn't have elite length or vertical to make up for only being 6'. At this point I'd rather see him in there than Hartline though.

Lazor's comments were interesting. He expressed his confidence in Hartline and described him as one of the hardest working guys on the team. However, for all the nice words, it is clear that his performance is unacceptable and he is on notice to lift his game. Rishard Matthews' touchdown on very limited opportunities didn't go unnoticed.

Brandon cooks...(drool)...he is lighting it up for NO.
