I have to believe Saban knows about this guy.

For Reference:
12:01 AM): Ex-Cats LB to enter supp draft... John Murphy and the folks at Next Level Scouting report that former Kentucky MLB Chad Anderson will be entering the summer supplemental draft. The 6-1, 250-pound Anderson was considered as a potential high pick when he led the SEC with 125 tackles in 2003, but he has struggled with academics since. That and more details on USC DT ManuaL Wright and former Clemson WR Roscoe Crosby, both of whom will also be to entering this summer's supplemental draft, as well as tidbits from around the NFL and college football in the latest installment of their NFL report.

When is the supplemental draft? And is there a website with information on the players that will be available?

It will be interesting to see if the Dolphins take part in the supplemental draft by getting Wright or Anderson.

My initial feeling is that we should quit giving away future draft picks for present talent. And, this is why I feel this way: giving away a future draft pick is like taking part in a draft that just has one player. In other words, you are more likely to incorrectly price a guy when he is the only one you're looking at, than when you are looking at multiple prospects at the same position all looking to get drafted.

That is the major flaw with giving away future draft picks, period. You don't KNOW what that pick is actually worth, and you also are not as likely to know the worth of the player you are looking to trade for as you would be if the draft was right in front of you and there are a ton of players all graded. You're evaluating the value of a single player standing alone as opposed to shoulder to shoulder with a bunch of other guys, and you are unitizing that player's value into currency whose value is also unknown.

In short, it's generally a bad idea.

These guys are like draft picks; they do have question marks by being in the s-draft

They are draft picks so to speak, but they do have questions by being in the supplemental draft. Saban will know about Wright and Anderson, have coached against Anderson and having a staff member formally of the Trojans.

The NFL will announce the date very soon

The NFL will announce the date soon, but it will be no later than the middle of July due to rules in the league about the draft being conducted prior to training camps.

Isn't it the 11th of July?

I had heard 7/11, but there has been no confirmation by league offices

No confirmation on that date yet. I have heard that date, but several sites have indicated that decision is forth coming today. It was on KFFL. com for starts.

You make a real good point. There are obviously less players to choose from in the supplemental draft therefore you don't know how these guys would fit in when the draft is full of talent. You can give them a general "draft grade" but when it comes to the actual draft players have a 2nd rd. talent and arent drafting til the 4(sometimes) and these draft grades generally dont hold unless you are a sure fire top 10 pick...even still remember what happened to aaron rodgers, people draft grade means NOTHING until they are actually in the draft.

Trust me...you dont want anybody from Kentucky. All of them turn out to be bust because of bad coaching they have there.

Hopefully this will be one of the few times that Miami actually has a shot this high in a supplemental draft. If we ever were to draft someone in the supplemental, this is the time.

God forbid, but if we go 4-12 or even worse this year we will forfit a pick next season for a supplemental darft DP now that's just not worth it. After Saban was so unhappy about the lack of picks this year I just don't see us being a part of the supplemental draft. "UNLESS" we trade Ricky, but who would give us anything for him??? I just don't see any scenario in which we are involved in the supplemental draft. I think there are a couple of players Saban would like to add to the roster, but not bad enough to give up a pick next year.
