I have read that we have lost both ILB and OLB coaches. Is someone like Al Groh or Bill Sheridan capable of coming in and coaching both positions or do we need another coach alongside to help? I'm not really sure how different the two positions are.

How about that one guy in your sig, i heard he was a pretty good ILB. Maybe he assist.

Both guys are VERY suitable to be LB coaches and Groh could EASILY be a D coordinator...I think if Sheridan gets the ILB coach position (which I think is what he will be brought in for)...Groh will be a lock for the OLB coach or D Coordinator position because of how good his is with the 3-4.

And in response to the guys above...I LOVE ZACK THOMAS!

Is there a BIG difference in coaching OLB as opposed to coaching ILB? I would think they are very similiar in what needs to be coached. Am I wrong?

I'm inclined to say yes since its 2 separate positions for one and it takes two separate skill sets to play the positions. The OLB is more like a DE position with some LB duties tied in where the ILB position is a pure LB position. OLB is harder than ILB relatively speaking that is.

we don't need 2 LB coaches. They wanted to give George Edwards a chance on the staff, but he didn't have experience with the 3-4 so we hired Jim Reid since he knew the system to coach OLBs.

I hate having two coaches for one unit. Some teams do it with CBs and Safeties and it leads to confusion because a unit that is supposed to be working together is being told 2 different things by their position coaches.

OLB is harder really? I didnt know that I thought MLB because they make the calls and adjustments. I wouldnt know in high school I played DT. So what excactly makes it a harder position if you don't mind sharing your info?
