LB: Zach Brown, Buffalo Bills

likely a fall back wlb option if Timmons decides to stay with the steelers

in which case kiko stays at mike and it's kiko and brown the nickel lb pair

Hoops if Timmons comes here how do you line everyone up? Could Timmons replace Misi for base downs? Kiko at mike for now until we get anyone else? Or Timmons in the middle and Kiko at weak?

I think he's the best LB available outside of Hightower. He's worth a look if the price is right. If Brown and Timmons cost the same, I would definitely prefer Brown.

if he comes here for me he's a 3 down mike given what im paying him to come and kiko is at weak...right now misi would be the 2 down strong with potential for that to change although you never invest high draft pick comp in 2 down strongs unless the guy projects to also play a sub edge rusher vs tackles and has win ability there

I cant see Timmons coming to visit Miami being paid at a 2 down value...I just can't...he's not leaving Pittsburgh if he does for that...so Miami has to have 3 down mike on the table here

which means he's paired with kiko in the nickel and a base starter at mike along with kiko at weak and base wise misi starts at strong if they don't cut/upgrade him

misi playing the same 2 down strong role you had him for in 2016 although obviously hoping for better health in 2017 and likely taking a cut to stay

I wouldn't hate Timmons but I just have a feeling it would scare us off from drafting a linebacker early

Both Brown and Timmons are inside players, which would kick Kiko to the weak side and a pass coverage specialist.

I would bet you it would...people can say bpa all they want but you don't pay Timmons that and try to sign kiko to an extension if they aren't plan a's at nickel lb which means 3 down players and you damn sure cant afford in Miami to invest in depth lbs that wont get run with high picks in 2017 unless they also are edge sub rushers

so yeah he sign here id say Miami says "I'm good" starter wise at lb until the comp 3 pick at least unless they cut misi and draft/sign a sub edge rush vs tackles option at strong

so you think if brown signs here they would put him at mike and kick kiko outside? you know how lost we'd be at mike read and diag wise? don't confuse 34 usage and skill set with 43...it's different animals

We need Brandon Watts to get healthy for the first time in his life.

Well, if we sign Timmons and sheard we could say that about pretty much any position. At 22 which position will we have a huge glaring need? I can't see us taking lamp there. I think we have to go defense and if not lb, where? Can reddick put his hand in the dirt on passing downs ?

If we sign Timmons or Brown , we might as well go ahead and sign a true 0-tech NT and convert to a base 3-4 defensive scheme. Branch projects better as an OLB than a 4-3 end. He is lousy against the run. Wake will do pretty much the same thing in any scheme.

right now I'd say assuming we sign Timmons lamp and Jordan willis would then jump to the forefront with wildcards like budda baker (who I'm not sure they like the size for enough and with Miami having McCain and Thomas tendered they might not feel the slot brings enough given the size but I think it worth the pick) or possibly a obi melinfonwu would be in play

but melifonwu is more of a projection free safety center field play type than a legit instincts and feel for it full field read one...better on half field reads but Miami may like the size for carry coverage play vs tight ends etc

Hard for me to see a FO who bargain basement shops free agent guards to invest a 1st on one. I think if peppers is there they jump rather than baker. Maybe Charles Harris. Don't see a cb at 22. Still think gase might have the foresight that the pick is a 10 year commitment and stopgaps won't prohibit them.

Boy it almost sounds like the expert on the forum about the dolphins defensive scheme that its almost best they sign no linebacker other than alonso, so they can draft one that fits their scheme better at a rookies salary, what I don't understand though is how often does Miami have only two linebackers on the field to have only to starter quality lb on the roster.............
