So i dont know much about all the LB's coming out in this draft but i know there is quite a few, based on stats to mean it looks like

sean weatherspoon is the biggest tackling machine coming out in the draft

brandon spikes didnt have the best year this year but in 2007 and 2008 racked up a ton of stats like over 200 tackles in those 2 years alone

rolando mcclain though he doesnt have the best tackles or anything statistically seems to be in the middle of the group but is clearly the #1 with his knowledge of the game, how much he studies film, ball hawking ability as well, and knows how to call audibles and read offenses. i consider him like an antonio pierce style LB he can like lead ur defense, maybe not right off the bat transitioning into the NFL but he will be a force to be reckoned with

Jerry Hughes this guy seems like he would be a good fit for us and i think he will fall, hes a sack generating machine though not racking up the tackles like weatherspoon and spikes and mcclaine

Sergio Kindle i dont know much about this guy but just looking at stats he seems to be at the bottom of these guys though still good idk really?

anyway if u can guys can correct me or let me know about any other cool LB's i might have missed under the radar let me know

they are all good options for us but will all be gone before we get into rd 3. i love Weatherspoon but i dont feel he is a good fit on our D, to me he looks more like a 4-3 WLB.
there are other linebackers that we can get in the 3rd/4th rounds that could be very solid and very good value picks (michah Johnson, Pat Angerer,Eric Norwood, Jason Worilds)

if Hughes is there with our second round pick depending on who we pick in the first i would be very happy

McClain's tackle totals this year are also a little misleading....he didn't even play the 2nd half of a few games because Bama was already up so big at halftime (North Texas, UT-Chattanooga, etc.)...

Now I DID see McClain loafing over on the sidelines in the 2nd half of those games...

The same would also apply to Spikes since he took himself out of the Vanderbilt game for trying to handgrab a catfish out of a guy's helmet the week before...

He was just trying to help the guy put in a contact lens that fell out. Don't know why everyone made such a big deal out of it...

I really like Pat Angerer......like....really....

I just don't think he gets a sniff from these guys.....I think any linebacker that's under 6-2 immediately gets his name taken off their draft board....I don't agree with it....I just accept it...

Rennie Curran and Sean Weatherspoon to me are the best linebackers whose size I take issue with.

I like Jamar Chaney...except that he's 6-1.....not a guy you want scraping a runningback or matched up in coverage, but I love the throwback mentality he plays with...he plays downhill and likes to mix it up...I think he's worth a look as a "TED" to some team that takes him in the mid/late rounds...

..and Mike McLaughlin....reminds me of a 5-11 version of Bill Romanowski....

I can deal with Mike McLaughlin. He may be small but he brings himself physically to the ball carrier and he actually makes up for his lack of size with leadership, tape study and change of direction skills.

I have a hard time with Jamar Chaney. First off I think we've already discussed this but it's nigh on impossible to watch Mississippi State's linebackers without naturally being drawn to K.J. Wright. And that's not because of size or anything that's just because he's the guy making the plays.

Thing is, I've seen Jamar Chaney have entire games where I'm thinking...did you even study one hour of tape on this opponent? You have *no* idea what is going on, at *any* given moment of this game. The Auburn game comes to mind. Obviously he's had better games, but still.

And physically, he's not a powerful guy at all I don't think. Have a tough time seeing anything more than a maybe special teams guy. And that's a maybe.

Now you stay away from K.J. Wright dammit....

Him and Pernell McPhee are two players I can't get enough of...

Chaney would make a good "TED" IMO because....well....they're not really asked to do much (especially in the thinking department)....just get in there and throw your body around....and the first linebacker to come off the field for an extra DB if you go to your nickel package, etc....
