Leach says decision coming within two weeks

If thats the case he won't be playing here. Also isn't he the one that spat in Channings face a few years ago?

Well, good for him. I'm not holding my breath over a fullback.....Specially when we already have two guys filling
that role.

I am thinking that he is not getting what he thought he would and may be biding time to generate a little more interest. Regardless, I am with Boss on this one.

Vonta Leach is the top rated Fullback in the NFL and made a significant contribution to clear the running lanes for Ray Rice through last season that culminated in winning the Super Bowl. There is a reason why he has 7 suitors. He is the best at his position.
Now we can wax lyrically about Jorvorskie Lane's potential but the reality is that he is nowhere near matching Leach's performance. We would be lucky to get him and Ireland probably knows it. But no harm in trying. Besides, he may look good in aqua and white and may appreciate that there are no state taxes in Florida.

He's so increadibly valuable that he's been on....how many teams now?

I'd rather stick with Lane and Clay at this point.

He's worth the wait. Best fullback in the game and a significant upgrade to what we have. Love to have in Miami.

The FB position has been a dying breed for years. Spread and pass happy offenses have all but killed it. A great FB can do great things for his RB. Considering how few FBs there are in the game, you have to be truly great in order to command attention. Even then, you still bounce around the league. As one offense becomes en vogue with changing coordinators, coaches and other offensive pieces, FBs have to be ready to move a lot if they want to stick in the league. Staying somewhere 4 or 5 years is almost unheard of for a FB; no matter how great he is.

The bigger problem for us in this scenario is the 53 man roster. Leach is worth the money, but we would have to use him in every short yardage and goal line formation to get the value. Which makes us predictable.

He is a luxury I would like to have given our efforts to increase TDs in the offense. But I think with all of our young talent, who do you cut? Thomas? Yes, but I'm already in favor of cutting Thomas to give Gray or another young RB a roster spot. If you get Leach, that means cutting 2 players.

I think he would be a great asset in goal line and short yardage. But I don't think that's enough to warrant cutting player x who may have more value on the teams. Do we have room for such a specialist?

We have the money for him, could use his talents for sure.....but two weeks? Granted the FB position isn't very complex but he really should be getting on any team as soon as he can to get into the groove with them.

I love Lane as much as the next guy but if the reports of him coming in overweight are true then I hope we can put Leach in south beach.

Not coming. If he wanted to be here he would have already signed and started getting to work. He wants to return to Houston, or as I am hearing here, return to the Ravens. Miami was a pure leverage move from him. Now he's playing the waiting game to see if the others will bite for fear of missing out/being reluctant they let him go.

Wouldn't mind but won't die if he goes elsewhere, I feel like the league is moving away from FB anyway. BTW, I graduated from VCU in 2001.

Houston is obviously his preferred destination, but they might not have the money to make it happen. Sounds like his backup choice is Miami.
