IMO, this team has no leadership from coaches to players. To me, Philbin is like a high school principal wanting high character players on his team. He did not want "characters" like Bush, Dansby, or Long thinking or speaking in their own.

The team has the emotion of an avocado, none other than a Pee Wee show on occasion. Football, as most sports, are emotional and if you have none, you will lose most close games. When the going gets tuff, the tuff do not always get going without someone prodding them to do so, like a coach or a payer/leader. Anyone who has ever played sports, at any level, understands.

There is confusion in the identity of this team. We were a passing team with an increase in scoring but RT getting killed. Today we ran 31 times for 156 yards, and threw mostly short 42 times for a 4.6 average. This gave us 17 points, and still 6 sacks.

Now, Philbin has not had enough time to put in what he wants to but, at this point I cannot say that I am a fan of what he wants to do or that he is the one to lead us to the promised land.

This is just me, as I believe you need more emotion to have success.

Opinions?

Brady was 13/22 116 yds 1 td 1 int. Not to many teams lose to the pats when brady puts up futile numbers like that. How did we blow this? I say coaching

Yeah, and the running with the dinking and dunking passing game did nothing to win.

Today the Pats were ours for the taking. Bad play calls, some bad execution, and 3 gifts from the Refs were all the Pats needed to come back. Once the momentum changed, Philbin looked like Henry Winkler facing Coach Red in the water boy. He was trying on woman's shoes behind the water cooler.
Ross needs to be more aggressive as an owner. He needs to dump this staff and GM and bring in the best that money can buy.
This team has some talent, but at the rate that Ireland builds, half the team will be too old before he solves today's problems.
Philbin is another meek character. We need a coach that is not only cerebral, but can also get into a players grill.
I want a tough running team with a modern deep strike passing game. On defense, a powerful run defense that dominates the opposition. The secondary playing man to man.
This ZBS finesse fruity scheme chit and smoke and mirrors defense can go with them.

Brady only threw for 116. That's coaching. Having a solid gameplan. Sherman had one too hence the lead heading into half.

We cannot win in today's NFL by running and throwing for 4-5 yards a pass. Ain't gonna happen.

How many times over 16 games do you see that happening?

You win by whatever means necessary. That means you run and short pass if the defense takes away the intermediate and deep ball.
The Pats are 6-2, they have won by being able to do whatever is necessary.
They just play smarter football than we do.

I do get what you're saying and agree. The WCO is based on short passes but, yo gotta compete more than around half to make it work.

To me, the team seems confused on what it wants to do. You run very well, and don't even give up a hurry, let alone a sack, for half a game, and then forget what got you the lead in the best overall half the team has played this year.

I understand that the Pats made adjustments but, our adjustments were to stop running. This allowed them to blitz and get SIX second half sacks. I have to put a lot of blame on Sherman, who I have defended, here. He's not alone. There's plenty of blame fro RT, ST's, and the D folding when needed.
