Lebrons Cavs were the Washington Redskins of the NBA. They didn't try to build through the draft and have players grow with him like what happened in Chicago with Scottie, Horace Grant, and Jordan. Instead, Gilbert tried to use a win now mentality and traded for a whole bunch of has beens with over inflated salaries. Lebron was the only go to guy with scrubs surrounding him. Mo Williams? come on. Antwan Jamison, the Wizards Reject? Thats laughable. Wade had Shaq on the beginning of his decline to help intimidate players in the middle. Granted he didn't do much that championship season but players were still scared of him and he was alot more mobile than when he played with James. Jordan in his prime couldn't have even won a championship with this team. And the heat an established team? Aboslutley not. Maybe with an established Superstar but nothing further than that. The Heat were the New York Knicks but with one exception, we had Wade who I think is the best player on this team, not James.
James and Bosh did exactly what Ray Allen and Kevin Garnett did. The two main differences here are that they did it in their primes and James announced it in poor fashion.
I couldn't agree more about Lebrons legacy, not so much b/c he joined the Heat, but how he announced it.
Kobe and Wade are my two favorite players in the NBA so I know for a fact that outside of LA, Kobe still doesn't get the recognition he deserves. It wasn't untill Shaq left and how he left Miami that some Heat fans realized that maybe it wasn't such a one-sided argument in LA. Jordan wasn't the nicest guy in the world but he was forgivable b/c he was bringing something to the game that nobody has ever seen. I don't think Lebron quit, I think he got sick of how the roster was being handled and mismanaged and how he was getting absolutley no help whatsoever
After you get a star like that it's hard to build through the draft b/c there are so few quality players entering the league each year. Kobe got help through trades and FA and the Celtics were built on trades in recent years.
Gilbert tried to do what lebron wanted him to do and that's his fault. he shouldn't have bent over for lebron so often but he did bring him enough talent to win a championship with. Jamison is a very good NBA player, Shaq still takes up space, they had more than enough talent around Lebron to win now in a league where a truly great team has not won a title in a long time. Jordan easily would have won a championship in the last 2 years w/ the surrounding talent in Cleveland.
The heat w/ wade and Bosh going there were a ready made team for Lebron to win w/. i'm not talking about last year's Heat but the team they will have going forward.
