http://www.realfootball365.com/nfl/articles/2007/07/dolphins-leftguard-unfilled060707.html After giving the offensive line an overhaul this offseason, it seems as if Miami Dolphins head coach Cam Cameron has remodeled the unit more to his liking.

Tackle L.J. Shelton, center/guard Rex Hadnot and tackle Vernon Carey were the major line contributors who were retained. Guards Bennie Anderson, Kendyl Jacox, Jeno James, Seth McKinney, Toniu Fonoti and tackle Damion were all either released or allowed to move on to different teams. Veterans Chris Liwienski (guard) and Mike Rosenthal (guard/tackle) were signed to compete for starting spots and provide depth. The Dolphins also drafted two promising young O-line talents -- Drew Mormino and Samson Satele, both of whom can play center and the guard positions.

Seems to me Cam has altered the OL to his liking, or how he sees fit. Why would Cam put a player at a position that he though that player wouldnt, or couldnt play or if he didn't like that player going to that position. Its common sense Cam feels Carey can play LT and Shelton can play RT and so on....Common sense Mr.Writer, common sense

Wow I didn't know that 4 o-linemen were drafted from Central Mich, three before Mormino...
"The most worrisome fact about Mormino is that three other fellow O-line starters from Central Michigan were also drafted, each in earlier rounds."

That statistic is inaccurate, at least for this year. The only CMU players taken in this year's draft were Joe Staley (SF rd 1) and Dan Bazuin, a DE (CHI rd 2). He could be meaning Staley, combined with Eric Ghiaciac and Adam Kieft both drafted by the Bengals, but that was 2 years prior in 2005. http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/draft?round=2&dl=nfl

I think this is what the writer was implying. Of the OL drafted from Central Michigan, Mormino was drafted later than the others. Joe Staley in the 1st, Eric Ghiaciac in the 4th, Adam Kieft in the 5th and Drew Mormino in the 6th.

I didn't read it that way, but okay. Even so, Mormino had more starting experience than any of them, so I'm okay with taking him in the 6th round.

Didn't Joe Staley make the comment that "Mormino was the best offensive lineman he played with" or was it "the best offensive lineman on the team"?
Either way maybe it was Mormino's presence that helped Staley become such a highly rated player?

Staley said Mormino was the best linemen on the team last year.

Staley was a highly rated player because of his measureables. Anytime you have a 300 pound O-Linemen run under 5.0 in the 40, he's going to draw some attention.

LT... carey
LG... mormino
C... satele
RG... hadnot/open for competition
RT... shelton...

that is how I see it at this point.

perhaps mormino could for both sides... but I am confident by week 4 satele will be anchoring and it may be sooner than that.

At this point, RG is not open for competition but LG is. Cameron thinks if the light comes on for Hadnot, he could be a very good RG.

the way Cam ranted, if it come true, he will be one of the best... sure would be nice a have a dominator.

I just love the way we are going for younger players on the oline and
I can see us drafting more oline in the future giving us an even younger line allowing them to grow together and play together for three to five years
which in itself would improve the play.

I have great optimisim on the direction of the oline. We may have some growing pains but all in all the future should be bright for our offense due to
the improvement of our offensive line.

rex hadnot is the only cemented starter/bright spot other than vernon carey (being our LT 4 sure) and of course Satele being a bright spot but there is no real open competition there "he's our right guard"

I'd still rather have him play the left guard, I realize it's an interior position but it's still greens blindside, and I don't really fell comfortable even thinking about green getting drilled, let alone when he doesn't see it coming.

I like hadnot, don't get me wrong, but I don't ever see him dominating anything really. I think he can be solid, and right now he is one of the better guys we got.

I don't want any liabilities on that left side of the line.
