Leigh Steinberg was on the Drive on Fox Radio today talking about Ricky and what the future holds.

The most interesting thing he said about the Ricky situation was that to his knowledge, the Dolphins never had discussions about trading Ricky. Everyone outside the organization continually speculated about trading Ricky, but Nick has never given any indication that he was going to do that. Leigh said that Nick was the best thing that has ever happened to Ricky. My opinion is that Ricky needs a father figure. Dave W. was that until Ricky realized that Dave was just running him into the ground, to save his own ***, and not really concerned with his health, which then prompted Ricky to smoke pot again, which got him kicked out, so he wouldn't have to make the decision himself. (that is my take on it) I think Ricky will do what Nick wants him to do.

Other than that Leigh said that Ricky had full intentions of coming back in 07, and that they wouldn't go to Canada, unless, Nick OK'ed it, because of the relationship that Ricky and Nick have.

He also said that Nick seems to like to have the 2 back system.

I just don't understand why everyone thinks the Dolphins would even want to trade Ricky. Any kinda value you would get, would have to be conditional. He makes the minimum, didn't really cause any trouble last year, except for the drug test faliure, that came out after the season.

Maybe I am just too much of a homer, when it comes to Ricky. I will miss his long runs this year. Although, I have been watching alot of Ronnie's runs this week, and I think we will see alot more from him this year.

I hope they let him play in Canada, I think it is worth the risk. Ricky needs to play, not just sit for another year.

GIVE ME A BREAK!!!!:tantrum: :fire:

Lets get this straight once and for all...Ricky Williams is to blame for his problems-no one else!

how do you reply to something that someone said, like with what they said in blue above it?

if ricky goes to toronto it would be similar to miami and coach saban. Pinball Clemons is a father figure and hero to many of his players, the argos are heavily invovled in the commuinty with stop the violence, talknig to high schools, and mentoring the youth. Also Clemons could relate to williams since he played in the nfl as a RB. The argos have other former first rounds BUSTS like john avery (former dolphin) rj soward(former jaguar) and bernard williams (former eagle) so ricky wouldnt feel akward in Toronto. Toronto isnt like som marijuana loving city where you can run around and smoke anywhere like some of these fools in the miami media are potraying. Ricky would do well in the cfl since its a speed league with a wide field and ricky isnt a powerback like before when he was 240 lbs. with his heavy dreads, now he is a 210 lb. speed back with a baby fro. Ricky is the truth and will be comeback player of the year in 2007 when he comes back. Ricky will rush for 1000 yards in the cfl and help lead toronto to its next grey cup victory november in winnipeg. I got family in Toronto and will proudly wear my ricky dolphins jersey there to watch him play at the rogers centre.

Also regarding the infamous turf issue that people bring up. Toronto has new field turf, winnipeg has field turf, hamilton has new field turf, calgary has new field turf installed this season, BC has field turf that is new, edmonton has grass and its awesome as it was used for international soccer matches, the only cheap field is saskatchewan which is a ghetto stadium, but ricky will only have to play there once. I believe that if Ricky signs with Toronto he will change around his life, continue to be more spiritual and become a better leader.

Also I believe in Nick Saban, you can tell this man has a plan and a mission in his life, not only to win ballgames, but to touch other people and have a profound impact in his life, saban has become a father figure to ricky williams, manuel wright, brought in a wayward young man in marcus vick, open the door to daunte culpepper, is attempting to revive zach thomas. Saban is a special coach, and people need to realize what we have here in south florida. Saban is the best thing to happen to the dolphins since Don Shula and Dan Marino.

So basically he's a liar.

That is why Ricky smoked pot and quit. He had close 800 carries in two years. Even told them he would come back if you run me less. Ricky saw what happened to all the great backs that got pounded to the ground. They can't even walk right now.

Ricky was smart enough not to let that happen to him. If DW was your coach you would have done the samething.

Ricky is a talented head case that cannot do without his weed.

Look....Lets put it like this.

if you knew you had a job where you could make millions a year, but,
were banned from useing X or Y substance, wouldn't you take care of your house?

Wouldn't you know what could mess you up if you were a three striker?

Hint; I get one shot at my job. One. I better not fail.

Ricky is unable to keep his life in order, and, that's sad, 'casue I
really like his ability.

Blameing his pot use on Dumbstadt is almost as dumb as Dave was.

Almost.

thanks for the good info.

However, I'm not sure Ricky needs to run. I keep thinking back to Marcus Allen, when he had ~2 years off or so with the raiders when he was in al davis' doghouse. He came back and was still great. Ricky can do the same, as long as he doesn't lose too much more weight.

Please.

Pain comes with the job.

That's why athletes make the money they do.

A gamer wants the ball.

If you don't want the ball, get out of the game. :shakeno:

I don't feel sorry one bit for Campbell or Bettis.

It's part of the job.

Nobody cares about oil riggers that have 8 fingers.

They don't get spotlights on ESPN, either.

your selfish, you like his ability and dont care about his livelihood or him as person, unlike you coach saban actually cares about him, people that get made at ricky are all selfish, they only care about his rushing yards and helping their fantasy teams , but they dont care about them as people. Second ricky only smoked pot to aid his problem with public speaking and being around other. ricky can do without his weed, he won his heisman without it, and did well before and after as well, he failed this time due to a dietary supplement and not marijuana.

FIRST AND FOREMSOT HE AINT A HEADCASE!!!!!!!! the guy is quiet, silent, hardworking and takes care of the less fortunate through his various charities.

Take off the homer glasses dude.

Ricky was a pot smoker from way back.

4 striker, man. 4 striker.

Look......Have you paid attention?

What other player in the NFL wore his helmet and visor when talking to the media? Name me one.

I won't argue his charitable works....That's
super of him to do.

Howard Huges did charity work and, he was a headcase too.

Look....the rules to the golden job are you don't use pot or
other banned subastances.

He couldn't do that.

That's just the bottom line.
