14. What's with the Miami Dolphins? Don't they learn? A week after they blew it by eschewing the run on third-and-2 at the Atlanta 8, they make the same mistake. This time they have four cracks at the end zone from the New England 5 and all four times they pass. They pass! You have Ronnie Brown averaging 4½ yards a carry. You have more than a minute left. You have four downs. You have two timeouts. And you don't run once? Amazing.

Ah yes, amazing. That's the word I was looking for. However, what's more amazing is that as crazy as it sounded, I knew Leinhan was going to call passes in that last series. I thought I was being negative, but it turns out that my most negative thoughts came true. That just makes it more sickening.

Sorry if this needs to be merged, but I don't have time for a search (baby boy needs to get bathed and to bed). Sorry mods.

didnt' ronnie run on 3rd down and lose yardage?

I do not understand the refusal from Liheman to run the ball. It boggles my mind.

It seems as he truly believes his plays will work no matter who the QB is.

The other problem is that we didn't even use Ricky or Ronnie as DECOYS. I mean hell, if you ain't gonna use two of the top backs in the league at the six yardline, at least FAKE the ball to them so you can get defenders moving with them. As it was they might as well have not even been on the FIELD! The two fade patterns were left totally up to only TWO players on offense -- Gus and each of the two receivers involved. Ricky and Ronnie might as well have been Obafemi Ayanbadejo and Mark Higgs!

The main problem with Linehan is that he's stuck in Culpepper/Moss mode. You run those execution plays (like fade patterns) when you have superior athletes who can either execute really well or who have the athleticism to compensate for it if they don't. We're running them with the 29th-ranked QB in the league and receivers who haven't exactly been reliable this year.

It really just defies logic. I don't like feeling like I'm smarter than our offensive coordinator.
