Against the warnings he received to expect the unexpected in the NFL Draft, Leonte Carroo kept privately telling his confidants that he had a good feeling about the Miami Dolphins.

“I felt like those guys weren’t pulling my leg. The wide receivers coach looked me right in the eye and said, ‘I want you. I like your physicality. I like the way you play. You are a lot different than a lot of receivers in this draft. I’m going to do everything I can to get you, but I’m not sure how this is going to play out.’"

Caroo is going to be a star in the NFL. It's just a matter of personal, you will see. His numbers are comparable to all the guys drafted ahead of him. Really good to see Miami building up the offense.

As much as some would like to believe, T-Bum and Grier aren't into the BS of telling lies. Everyone has faults, but I believe they are generally sincere. There were a lot of targeted players in this draft where our private workouts and meetings played a vital role in our evaluation. That carries a lot of weight with me because our coaches know what we have and where these guys are going to need work. If they didn't think they would be a good fit and could be coached up, then we wouldn't have bothered drafting them. I like that through these meetings we have already begun building some player-coach relationships.

Lots of teams needed WRs. Some appear to have had greater needs than Miami. Why do you think Miami rated Carroo higher than other teams? Is part of the reason that he played for Rutgers? I didn't know much about him before Friday but my immediate reaction was not positive because Rutgers isn't a very good team (and I know that is unfair, but I'm being honest).
Gil Brandt on Sirius NFL Radio yesterday also indicated that Carroo is a likely problem-child and he didn't like the pick.

The most shocking thing of all of this is that a position coach actually had major influence on the draft process. At least the GM staff are listening to the coaches and getting the guys they want. Now lets hope the coaches are as good as projected.

I like his and Grants intensity. Seems as though the coaches were pushing for this in the draft.

This kid is a worker. He strengthens his hands by driving them repeatedly I N and out of a bucket of rice or sand. Puts a new meaning into "pound sand".

He's able to catch anything. He has wheels. He's tough in contact. Will be able to run most routes well, even if he doesn't yet.

He'll be a fan favourite in time and he's an alpha guy.

I follow Rutgers since Im from NJ, this kid is legit. He really does have Boldin traits. Rutgers sucks as far as competing with the bigger football programs, but they send PLENTY of players to the NFL. Ray Rice, Sanu, Mcourty, Davis, Britt, etc. Bill Belicheck loves his Rutgers pipeline. I see our long term WR's being DVP, JL, LC, KS (they may let him go after this year if Carroo pans out).

More than anything this team needed some guys that play with an edge and some intensity. So many times this team looks lethargic when they play and there is no one that can give them a burst of emotional energy when they need it most. Just remember back to the opening game against New England two seasons ago and how the whole team fed off Mareno's intensity. I really believe it helped propel them to victory. Adding Carroo to the receiving crew with an already edgy and intense Landry gets me excited to watch this offense work. I see a lot of Steve Smith / Golden Tate like qualities and intensity with Carroo.

They are definitely trying to change the culture. Grier said they were looking for these alpha male types.

I(just like alot of folks here) don't know much about any of these players we've drafted. After years of watching predraft, draft and post draft analysis, highlights etc. I'm confident in sayin more times than not who knows what they hell we have.

I don't know anything about Mr. Carroo and in my opinion I don't see anything that makes me say he's a sure fire can't miss. When I watch his highlights he looks just like any other receiver in his "highlights."

Only time will tell and I certainly hope he's everything the FO wanted and more.
