Let's Get Negative!!!

The only things that don't matter in a preseason game, are the W/L, and the entire 4th quarter. Everything else is a pretty good indication of talent given the circumstances.

Don't tell me to shut up man....I can say what I want about what I saw on Monday night. It was embarrassing!!!.....

Sure, it's only Pre-Season. Sure, it was our first game. Sure, the defense had no game plan for the Bucs. Those are all interesting topics regarding the inabillity to stop the Bucs running attack.....

What happens when it's no longer Pre-Season, and we're still getting run over though???.....Using what Zach said about not playing tough because he's not fighting for a roster spot is nothing but a poor excuse for getting manhandled....

PHINZ RULE!!!

I have to agree with Blitz about so many people telling him to shut up. I got 2words for you people, oh wait that would be hypocritical. Seriously though some of you think you live in Cuba. Dave Wanstedt is all over the local media bashing our performance Monday, but the fans can't? You guys are turning in to the biggest group of homers on the internet. As far as the run defense I will be more concerned if we continue to look like a cive in the Houston and Bears game, but we were really bad Monday night so I can see Bkitzkreig's concern.

All I have to say for all of you that don't beleive pre-season is pretty much meaningless is.... Do you remember last season??

I do! We destroyed EVERYONE in pre-season. Made the Rams first-teamers look like rookies. Did that happen when the regular season came around?? NO!!! Why??? Because nobody takes pre-season seriously.

Another thing that can't be overlooked is the 2 games in four days. The coaches AND players... were taking it VERY easy to not risk injury. There is no point in going out and trying to kill yourself now. You could see it in the play from most of the veterans. They are not going to risk injury with a tenacious schedule like that. You need to save something. The performances in the Saints game will be pretty much meaningless also... because of our schedule we have not gotten much quality practice in the last week, and the only goal is to stay healthy.

If in our next two pre-season games, after the Saints (where will actually start to gameplan) we look horrible, then there might be reason to start worrying.

I don't know bout any of that...

... but Wanny is looking for an edge to motivate his team. All you have to do is read Zach's comments after the game and realize that this team didn't give a damn about the game. To me that is a HUGE, LARGE problem. In fact I think this is the LARGEST problem this team has ever faced for years, mental weakness to stay on task.

I think anyone has the right to complain, but I think anyone who thinks there are answers to be found after 1 pre-season game is only fooling themselves. It's one thing to complain it's one thing to say this is going to be a problem when the team plays for real. I think that is a joke.

Oliver this specific topic can't defend the actions for the last 6 months. Some might be right in this area, but for a while now if you raise a negative thought you get chastised by the whole web page.

Actually last preseason we only won 1 out of 4 or 5 games. We went 1-4 I believe. The preseason BEFORE that we went I think 3-1 or 4-0 or somethin like that.

And the Bucs game, we only won because Mike Quinn lofted a hail mary with 2 seconds left in the game to Robert Baker, the ball was tipped up in the air by a safety who was cut within a week, and Baker came down with it.

Reason #1 to be concerned is...well it looked all too much like all too many games that we played last season and the season before...where we'd screw up royally right from the start, get down by more than a TD, then have to start coming back from it.

Reason #1 to be relieved is...well had it not been for Travis Minor being used on 1st and 1 in between the tackles in a power running formation (which I can guarantee you will not happen in the season), we wold have had the game tied up again by halftime...which also keeps with our trend of screwing up then letting our superior talent get us caught up.

But Blitz you are...

... making his point. It's not the reg-season it's still pre-season. There are no answers to be found yet. What's the point of asking for answers when no one I mean no one can answer those questions? If they could, they wouldn't be posting on any MBoard they would own Las Vegas already.

Oliver...

Yeah Oliver, the refs were pretty crummy that game. Witness the phantom false start/offsides penalty that went uncalled....even though both lines pretty much stood up. And the Butt Ball ended up being blown dead after a 2 minute delay.

Larry got held a lot, yes sir.

Sorry I didn't relaize that...

Yes its preseason and yes there are concerns ,but please lets all settle down a little ..Im glad preseason is here but lets face it nothing really MATTERS till the reg. season starts ...Oliver ..the fact that the vets took it easy is not a HUGE problem ..I prefer that the vetrens and injured vetrens especially shouldnt play too hard in these games!! Like it or not pre season is PRACTICE>> evaluation perhaps but still practice .Pre season means nothing to me personally but getting to watch the rookies and bubble guys try to impress . To read more than that into this game is absolutely nuts ! Sure wanny is pissed ..its his JOB to get pissed when we start that badly .. did we look horrible ? yes and no ..The next game is too soon and the ONLY game that will be "gameplanned " for is texas ..The last game we will not risk injury to most starters ..so If we look REALLY bad against the texans ...WORRY! But till then my advice is to stay positive about the good things we say and hopefull the bad things will get corrected . Any thing more is making a mountain out of a mole hill....

Muck, actually the Bucs were penalized for more yards than the Phins but I agree the Refs weren't good last night but they won't be any different during the season. That non interception due to the whistle blowing, I can see alot of that comming.

My biggest disappointment aside from the run defense was our inability to convert on short yardage. I believe on 3 occasions we were unable to convert 2nd and 3rd and 1 or 2 rushing the ball. How can Wanny praise the OL for that. I just hope we can audabalize when we see the D playing the run like they were.

amen
PREASON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!DON"T MEAN SH&T!!!!Specially the first game!!! Besides ROB BURNETT didn't play either!

No badfoot I meant...

... it's bad to portray that type of attitude in public. It tells me that possibly the player leadership on this team is not setting the proper example as far work ethic and attitude in private. I think there is a reason we have lost so many times to the Jets. That's because they are in the player’s heads and they are not strong enough emotionally to get over that IMO. I think this diatribe by Zach's only strengthens that point of view.

I believe(hope) that the refs are just not throwing flags b/c they don't care about the pre-season. They didn't call several penalties on both teams.
