Lets get to .500 or within a game of .500 before we start saying the P word. We have to take it game by game like last year.

Agreed, although I think the P's are out of reach now.

The problem is that with so many losses right now we are having to watch a lot of other teams lose for us to get back into it.

Anyone have an update on exactly how things look as of right now?

We aren't mathematically eliminated yet, thats all I know..

that's a DEAL

Only people talking playoffs are the fans who get too excited after a win, just like the ones who are talking doom after a loss. This isnt a playoff team.

I don't even want to know how things are looking, I'd rather just let the cards play out....The last thing I want is to have hope just to be shutdown....

Like someone mentioned, just take it one game at a time....

What hurt us was crucial games in the beggining....specifically the Steelers and Texans games....those were crucial AFC games and those teams aren't even that good.

I don't... yet. Jacksonville looked pretty bad today, and Cincy can't stop anybody.

It's basically everybody and their mother in the playoff hunt right now (though 1 spot will go to an AFC West Team)

Actually, this is a playoff team, that just didnt play like it should have to start. That early stretch likely killed us. You just cannot lose to the Texans, bills, packers etc and have a good road at the SB.

But we have beatdown the Bears, possibly the best NFC team, and just today won over the chiefs, a top AFC team. That makes us a team that has the ABILITY and TALENT to win a playoff game. The problem for us seems that (as we have for many years now) that we play to the level of our opponents. We come out looking for blood against the Bears, chiefs, pats, colts and other good teams, but then get beat in easily winnable games like the texans and pack.

That and we could use a real QB, but thats a whole nother 'post

I never stop thinking about the possibility of the playoffs, and as a fan I have to have irrational optimism about these types of things. But I don't ever make assumptions that we will beat any team, no matter how bad they are. Too many people on this board become overconfident.

Good teams dont lose to Buffalo and Green Bay at home. And as you say, we get beat in easily winnable games. Not a good sign. And the Chiefs are not a top AFC Team.

All the other teams that are going for the 6th seed lost today so we are one step closer.

I never make the assumption that we WILL win, but I can say that against bottomfeeder teams we SHOULD win. This has been a problem over teh last few years. We can win the big games, but tend to let the easy ones slip away.

I mean, you could SEE the difference in intensity between the Texans game and the Bears game for instance. I dunno what we need to do, but this has been killing us for awhile now.
